Forum rules

Please read the following rules before posting a download request in this area:

1. Don't post a request if you have under 10 posts as stated on the front page. If you do anyway, it will be deleted without further notice. This also applies to other members: If you see a request by someone with less than 10 posts and it hasn't been deleted yet, please don't reply to it.
2. Don't request for warez or any copyrighted software. Only betas (no matter how old or new) and finals of operating systems and applications that are at least 10 years old and therefore classified as abandonware are allowed to be uploaded to and shared on the BetaArchive FTP server.
3. If you have your own FTP server where you'd like other members to upload what you're looking for to, please don't post its login details in any open forum as that will probably lead to abuse. Post the login details in the Private Servers section instead.
4. Check that we don't already have the file on our FTP servers. If you don't have access to the FTP servers then ask someone who has (a moderator for example).

I have casually found it on one of the sites devoted DOS. And I did not see, that here spoke about this version. I do not know, this version original or fake. But in NFO it is written that it is not hack.
Release date - May 1995.

The product appears to be a version of 6.22, with some things changed. However, this is reputed of the "DOS 7 beta 2" as well. It is also to keep in mind that "beta 1" is largely based on 6.00 (it is listed as 6.07 in my catalogues).

Drivers correspond to MS-DOS 6.22, except for mouse. In 607, drivers correspond to version 6.20, even though most of the file comes from 6.00.

Help seems to be based on 6.22, (in 607, the help is from 600). Help.hlp from 622 is also distributed with Windows retail: that is why i did a new version.

DOSSHELL is identical to all 6.xx versions.

Edit is the same as in Chicago 136, MSD is from 122. However, since the editor from 122 says "Chicago Emergency Beta", it could have been changed to read MS-DOS Editor for this beta.

I'm pretty sure that Microsoft may had ultimately decided to leap 6.30 in retail release, but i would need to do some further tests to see if this is really a DOS 6.30 or a patch job. In general, it looks authentic.

Wendy

When you get it in a VPC box, it says MS-DOS 6.30 in the dos start up, but running VER gives MS-DOS 6.22, as does MSD and IBM's qconfig. If this had been compiled by Microsoft, one would expect all of this to come from version.h, as eg 6.22 or 6.30.

It must be noted also that IBM's version of DOS 6.10 reports 6.00 here, in both forms so it is not entirely inappropriate for this to be the case. Need to dig deeper before deciding whether this is a fake.

It sure does look pretty good, though.

Wendy
