Forum rules

Please read the following rules before posting a download request in this area:

1. Don't post a request if you have under 10 posts as stated on the front page. If you do anyway, it will be deleted without further notice. This also applies to other members: If you see a request by someone with less than 10 posts and it hasn't been deleted yet, please don't reply to it.
2. Don't request for warez or any copyrighted software. Only betas (no matter how old or new) and finals of operating systems and applications that are at least 10 years old and therefore classified as abandonware are allowed to be uploaded to and shared on the BetaArchive FTP server.
3. If you have your own FTP server where you'd like other members to upload what you're looking for to, please don't post its login details in any open forum as that will probably lead to abuse. Post the login details in the Private Servers section instead.
4. Check that we don't already have the file on our FTP servers. If you don't have access to the FTP servers then ask someone who has (a moderator for example).

I was reading and saw something about SBS 4.5 or something like that. Seeing as it's built on NT4 Server (Enterprise Server?) it must be abandoneware. But of course this could be dumped in the 'rarest of the rare' pile.

But seriously, this would be an amazing find if someone has it because I've never seen it anywhere except in texts (sbs2003 book saying you can only migrate from SBS4.5 etc)... A google search yields interesting results as usual (for example SBSfaq.com which is actually a sharepoint server!!).

Apparently the official name for this is Microsoft BackOffice Small Business Server.

There are three versions of this: v4.0, v4.0a and v4.5.

Support<dot>Microsoft<dot>com gives some nice results aswell.

Version 4.5 comes on 3CDs. As for v4.0/v4.0A, I don't really know.

I have BackOffice Server 4.0 (not SBS, SBS is its smaller brother). It comes on 5 CDs. It's the German version, however.

I'd love this... It doesn't matter that it's the german version, have you ever heard of a little something called.. Babelfish?

I have it. I didn't know it was so rare. I obtained it working as a network admin while I was going to school. Please give me a few days to find it. I have everything packed up for a move.

I don't think it's especially rare - genuine copies of all of this kind of stuff come up on eBay for not much cash at all every now and then.

A check on my stock list says I have these builds of it...

Quote:
Backoffice 2.0 SDK, Premium Release.
Backoffice 2.5 - complete 3 disk set
Backoffice Server 4.0a,US, Alpha
Backoffice Server 4.0a,US, x86
Backoffice Server 4.0, US
Backoffice Server 4.0, French
Backoffice Server 4.0, German
Backoffice Server 4.5
Backoffice Small Business Server 4.5, US
Backoffice Small Business Server 4.5, German
Backoffice Small Business Server 4.5, French
Backoffice Small Business Server 4.5, Spanish
Backoffice Server 4.5 Developer Edition, US
Backoffice Server 4.5 Developer Edition, German
Backoffice Server 4.5 Developer Edition, French
Backoffice Server 2000 Beta 1
Backoffice Small Business Server 2000 Beta 1

If the one you wanted was only a few CD's in size, I'd be prepared to
upload it..
I'm sure however that one lot {not sure which one without trolling through
boxes} was about 7 CD's in size, that might be a bit too big to up all at
once...
There's possibly later 2000 builds of it here somewhere, I've been to lazy
& un-interested of late to bother updating the stock list..
LMK...

Nice KenOath. I'd like these from the list:

BackOffice Server 4.0a,US, x86
Backoffice Server 4.0, US
Backoffice Server 4.5
Backoffice Server&SBS 2000 Beta 1

The one I want mostly is v4.5 so you can up that one first.

Not too sure as I've not yet had the chance to use them, although at a
guess I'd say it'd be used to develop apps required by some other form of
software...

I recently got to playing with Microsoft eMbedded Visual Tools 3.0 & was
told by the app that SQL Server "Developer Edition" was to be installed
before using the application

So, do you want Backoffice 4.5 or Backoffice 4.5 SBS, your original post
states SBS...
& do you have an ftp or should I up it somewhere else..?

Up it to Andy's ftp, I used to have one but it's perm offline now.

I know I said SBS originally but it seems like back then SBS was Backoffice's younger brother, so I'd happily have BackOffice...

Backoffice 4.5 is on 7 CD's, that'll take a fair amount of time & space on
his server, wasn't it down to 12 gig or something like that...
Leave it with me, I'll have a play with this server i've been kicking walking
past it for the last 6 months, perhaps I can get it working for you to
download from yourself...
I'll post back when I've pulled my finger out...

@KenOath
I'd be interested in seeing at least some screenshots of BackOffice SBS 4.5 to see if the branding has been changed and what it looks like in general. Could you kindly give that one a try, too?

Found some information about the developers edition.
When installing VB6 Enterprise, It says in the EULA:

Microsoft VB6 EULA wrote:
2. MICROSOFT BACKOFFICE SERVER DEVELOPER EDITION COMPONENTS. The SOFTWARE PRODUCT may include certain components of Microsoft BackOffice Server (collectively, the "BackOffice Components").
2.1 Installation and Grant of License. The BackOffice Components consist of software programs that provide services on a computer called a server ("Server Software; the computer running the Server Software shall be referred to as the "Server") and software programs that allow a computer or workstation to access or utilize the services provided by the Server Software ("Client Software") ... The media on which the Server Software resides may contain several versions of the Server Software, each of which is compatible with a different microprocessor architecture (such as the x86 architecture or various RISC architectures)...
Microsoft SNA Server. The 3270 and 5250 terminal emulation applets and the ODBC/DRDA driver provided with SNA Server are licensed for use only by one user per licensed SNA Server...
Microsoft Exchange Server. Microsoft Exchange Server includes Microsoft Schedule+ ("Schedule+"), Forms Designers ("Forms Designers"), and Sample Applications ("Sample Applications"). Schedule+, the Forms Designers, and Sample Applications may only be installed and used in conjunction with the Microsoft Client Software. Microsoft Exchange Server also includes Source Extractor software, for migrating data from other electronic mail software; Administrator software; and Microsoft Mail Connector software. The Source Extractor, Administrator, and Microsoft Mail Connector programs contain components that may be installed on additional machines. Microsoft grants to you the additional right to modify the source code version of the Source Extractor programs. Such programs may only be used to migrate data to Microsoft Exchange Server...
Microsoft SQL Server. Notwithstanding Section 1.1, solely with respect to the Microsoft SQL Server portion of the BackOffice Components, the following additional rights apply: (a) a maximum of five users may access and use the Server Software for the sole purposes of designing, developing, and testing your software product(s) that are designed to operate in conjunction with Microsoft SQL Server; and (b) an unlimited number of simultaneous connections may be made to access the services of the Microsoft SQL Server Server Software.
