Forum rules

Please read the following rules before posting a download request in this area:

1. Don't post a request if you have under 10 posts as stated on the front page. If you do anyway, it will be deleted without further notice. This also applies to other members: If you see a request by someone with less than 10 posts and it hasn't been deleted yet, please don't reply to it.
2. Don't request for warez or any copyrighted software. Only betas (no matter how old or new) and finals of operating systems and applications that are at least 10 years old and therefore classified as abandonware are allowed to be uploaded to and shared on the BetaArchive FTP server.
3. If you have your own FTP server where you'd like other members to upload what you're looking for to, please don't post its login details in any open forum as that will probably lead to abuse. Post the login details in the Private Servers section instead.
4. Check that we don't already have the file on our FTP servers. If you don't have access to the FTP servers then ask someone who has (a moderator for example).

Not sure what you mean by "Hacked" version..!
There's Nashville which was originally thought to be a release of Windows
to be released as Win96, & Detroit which was said to have become
Windows OSR2.1 or 2.5..
I personally feel that Detroit had something to do with new technologies
built into Windows95, the same as some have found that Nashville was
the codename for the IE/Desktop technologies built into the build
4.10.999 of it's release....
One of the reasons I believe that Detroit was a new set of technologies
& not just another operating system is the fact that the USB drivers
for both OSR 2.1 & 2.5 was actually called Detroit.exe within the
usbsupp.exe supplied on both OSR2.1 & 2.5...

Find a copy of the usbsupp.exe & extract it with winrar, inside you find
the Detroit.exe & another file called WDMUSB.exe, now extract wdmusb.exe
again with winrar, you end up with a bunch of files & drivers needed to
drive the usb on Win95, one of the files is called Detroit.inf & is worded
inside as such..
Code:
BakOSR2VmmRen  = 22
BakOSR2InfRen  = 17
BakOSR2SysRen  = 11
OSR2BootRen    = 30
OSR2VmmRen     = 22
OSR2InfRen     = 17
OSR2SysRen     = 11

; For the deletes
DetroitInfDel     = 17
DetroitSetupTools = 11

[DefaultInstall]
RenFiles = OSR2VmmRen, OSR2InfRen, OSR2SysRen, OSR2BootRen
CopyFiles = DetroitVmmCopy, DetroitWinCopy, DetroitInfCopy, DetroitSysCopy, DetroitBootCopy
AddReg = DetroitVersion_add.reg, RunOnce_add.reg, NTKERN.reg, NTKERNValues.reg, Uninstall.Reg
DelReg = USBRemove_del.reg

[RestoreAndCleanup]
RenFiles = BakOSR2BootRen
DelFiles = DetroitSetupTools

; This will undo the renames we did when we installed,
; delete any leftover files, remove registry entries.

[DefaultUninstall]
RenFiles = BakOSR2VmmRen, BakOSR2InfRen, BakOSR2SysRen

All the files listed above are actually the files that you will extract from
within WDMUSB.exe which was originally archived inside of the USBSUPP.exe...
It's a lot bigger than listed above, but you'll get the drift from what I just
pasted above...

This "Hacked" version you speak of I think I know what you're taling about. It does not work so good and is quite buggy, my friend has a "hacked" version of it; please provide more details about what you're asking.

I dont think Detriot is a hacked version. Unless it is a knockoff of the real one.

Detroit was the codename of Windows 95 B (OSR2). It was released in August 1996.

I am very sure that 95B's codename was Nashville.

No. Nashville was the codename from Windows 96 (which was planned as a "Desktop Update" with IE 4). The Build number was 4.00.999. The project was canceled and Detroit was the new project. The build number was 4.00.1111b.

Before Nashville there was a project called Knoxville which was planned as a Refresh-Update. This project was canceled, too.

What do you mean? I bought a copy of that when it first came out and have used it ever since! Great piece of software too, one of MS's best ever :D

The build number for Nashville was 4.10.999 , not 4.00.999.

4.10 indicates a totally different build fork.
