Let's see how far I can get. It's been sitting at "Setup is starting Windows" for a few minutes now. The virtualized CPU in the WS2k8 VM has also been sitting at 100% for a while.
Goodbye.

I managed to install Chicago build 56 inside VPC 2004, inside Windows XP being ran on VirtualBox, and my host was Windows 7 x64. Took ages lol. Booting the MS-DOS bootdisk took 5 minutes.

So far it seems to be working. Server 2003 Setup went ahead and booted and now we're sitting at 2% of files copied.
Goodbye.

I have done it already. Haven't changed the hotkey of the VM Guest and then I couldn't exit of the virtual machines.

I never try such thing (Virtual Machine inside a Virtual Machine) because I know it will not work for me. Better stick with the host OS you know
, it's already enough that XP and Server 2003 take around 40 minutes to install!

I tried 7 > XP Mode > 95 (VBox) and it worked well and fast.
You could try 3.1 after that

XP Mode works almost as an extension of Windows 7 IIRC so that should be perfectly fast.

You don't recall correctly - XP Mode works as an implementation of VirtualPC. When you install Windows XP Mode, you're actually installing Windows XP onto a virtual machine and having it run as a sort of part of the shell.

Why don't you just install VB on the host, install Server 2003, copy it over to the VM, and THEN boot it?

Too bad that DosBox refuses to run due to the lack of proper video drivers for Windows 98, I'll look into that later...

That would ruin the fun in completely running the OS itself under nested virtualization IMO.
