Hello,
I was wondering if any Prey betas have leaked.
I know of one before release that used to be on the BA server (seems to have been deleted?)
Are there any others?

There was a topic about this a while back, and as far as I know, that one on the BA server is the only leaked build.

(I don't think its on the BA server anymore because the archive was damaged.)
If the original uploader is reading this, would you be willing to do a reup?

I know there was a topic lol
I started it :D
But i couldn't find the topic to bump it so i just started another one.

Even Better would be a 1997/1998 beta.
Thats not happening though 8-)

Yeah, sadly not :(

Who knows, maybe the 2K guys will release a beta from the original development after the 10th anniversary of the retail one.

EDIT: Humanhead, not 2K

2K wouldn't release any beta.
Because they didnt develop it.
It was developed by humanhead and was originally being developed by 3D Realms like 12 years ago.
A person at 3D Realms has the beta but refuses to release it, apparently theres no point as its got a password on it he forgot.

Yes, there was a Prey beta on the FTP once. Problem with that beta was, the archive was password protected and no one seemed to know the password for it...

I don't think that there is a cracker for .rar archives... and using bruteforce takes ages...
If you know better, tell me how to do it and I will try, I have the archive still lying around here...

Actually, the archive was damaged. There wasn't any password on it, but the file lacked the final 30MB or so. So it was unrecoverable. Otherwise it would have been on the FTP now =). It was also a pre-release beta, so it wasn't much different from the final product.

That's great! Are there any significant differences to the retail version?

the build number ? I think that is about all. If I had the retail version (i do but it is on steam and with the latest patch) I would try to find some differences.

This will take a while to upload and i might have to wait till uni starts and do it there (start of march).

@mrpijey: don't delete what i have uploaded because of inactivity

edit: most files are dated 27(or 28)/6/2006

What's the status of this upload? It's been dead for a while now, I need to know if this will be completed or if I should delete the file.

i know this is a bit of a bump, but i have finished uploading the beta to the ftp (wait for it to be moved). I have problems running it on a new graphics card/drivers (nvidia) so you might have to play around a bit. Maybe someone who knows the game well can point out some differences, besides the build string (if there are any).

Great, thanks for letting us know. I'll repack and add it to the collection as soon as possible.

Mostly because I got other duties in life with a little bit higher priority than sitting home all day packing up releases for you folks. Not to mention that some other releases had a little bit higher priority as well.

Please, don't rush me. You'll see it on BA when it's released, not before that.
