Hi Andy,

could you also allow gif as image type, please?

Ive recently been asked this by someone else, and the reason its not enabled is so we don't have images with crap quality uploaded. It spoils it when we have brilliant quality images then someone spoils it. GIF is the worst format for screenshots anyway so I think its best left out.

GIFs can look very good, it all depends on what colour palette you're using. Plus, GIFs let you do animation which can be useful in some instances. If you want us to use the image uploader for all images, it probably would be a good idea to add GIF support cause then if we want to upload something that is already a GIF, we won't have to convert it again to JPEG (therefore losing quality)

I want gifs, because here are not enough Emoticons. And most animated Emoticons are gifs and so I have to upload them to other picture hosting services.

I think the script would rid it of its animation anyway when it reduces the size and compresses it. I will have to have a look.

I do, I usually save most screenshots as either Gif or PNG...
Gif if I want the file to be as small a possible usually....

Here's a screenshot in Gif format that don't look too bad...
I just use ACDSee to convert from bitmap or PNG to Gif which
does a pretty good job...
Sorry, had to use Imageshack to show you...

Or a few scanned Beta CD's saved as Gif, to show how good it could look,
The equivalent image saved as PNG or JPEG was nearly half the size again..

Ive added GIF/gif as a trial. If it goes well Ill leave it there but don't expect it to work with animation gifs. You're lucky if it does.
