MODS: Quick Reply and /me?

Post by compact-mac »

The /me mod turns /me whatever into *compact-mac whatever

IRC IIRC? (lol)

The Quick Reply MOD saves time and does what it says.

Any comments?

Quick reply minimizes server usage because users aren't required to load another page...

Thats a good enough reason to use it.

Mods are very difficult when it comes to phpBB. When updates are made mods often have to be reinstalled because a file was updated to the original by phpBB.

Server load isn't an issue yet anyway so I don't see what one more click should hurt.

I agree, these mods would be very nice but hopefully phpBB3 will be released soon and we can move over to using this new and improved software. However phpBB3 does not include quick reply as standard although there is a MOD for that so when we move to phpBB3 Andy can (hopefully) mod in the wuick reply MOD.

phpBB3 makes it easier to implement mods so I would think there is no problem in doing this.

Maybe we should try RC5 because the previous version brought up a load of errors almost everywhere.

i would really like to see quick reply, it was one of the first things (aside from 'view new posts since last login') that i missed from IPB.
as for /me, can't say that i would ever use it but if others see it as useful then i don't see why not.

then again, if the work involved implementing them outweighs the gain then its no massive loss.

Its not exactly "in your face" is it There have been links I've never noticed before and I've had them pointed out.
