Hello all,

It's been almost a month now, since the release of BetaArchive Version 2. The site has had its fair share of problems, both expected and unexpected, but everything seems to be just about in working order now. The status bar is fixed, the design bugs are fixed, and the facelift has certainly brought in a lot more visitors (about 35% more!) but more on that later.

Now that you're all settled in, and familiar with the new template, what does everyone think about it? Do you have any suggestions or comments, or even complaints? I'd like to know your opinions so I can do my best to make the site more enjoyable.

What I would like to see is suggestions for new features or areas of the site too. It has been suggested that we restart the Wiki and attempt to recover the data from the old database (which should be intact, it just needs converting). Also an FAQ, Serials page, and updates to the server page to include the upload server to all members have been suggested. All of these are great suggestions and will be kept in mind in the coming months.

Some of the site is still a work in progress as you may have seen. Ki-Chi-Mi has been working on the latest topics display since I could not find a pre-made script. Although it looks finished, there are still some features I would like to see before calling it a completed project. Ki-Chi-Mi is continuing to work on these whenever he has chance.

Since before v2, mrpijey has been working on the reorganisation of the FTP server. His efforts have been highly praised by just about everybody, but especially by myself, as I could never find the time or patience to do what he has done, so a huge thank you to you mrpijey! It's so much easier to find the file you're looking for, especially in such a well organised fashion.

I would also like to thank Craig for his continued support on the v2 template. Not only did he help test the template and find bugs for me, but he also coded the script to allow the servers page to work properly and with the correct permissions, so a huge thank you to him.

Also, I have to thank the numerous beta testers of the v2 site before it was publicly released. Not many people knew the official URL by the end of the development stage but those who did tested it thoroughly and we managed to get rid of 99% of the bugs in the template before it was released.

Since the release of version 2, the site visitors have grew by around 35%. We used to get ~750 unique visitors per day. That has risen to well over 1200 per day, and the page hits have increased too which is fantastic! The bandwidth on the FTP server has remained at a steady ~1.9TB/month, but I'm guessing most of the extra visitors are new members without FTP access at the moment. Get those posts people! You'll soon have access to one of the largest beta repositories on the net!

Once again, thank you to everybody who has contributed to the version 2 template. Your efforts have made BetaArchive the place it is today.

Andy (Admin)

I'd like to add to this and thank everyone that has been involved in developing and testing BetaArchive during it's "refresh". A lot of things has happened lately - some bad, but most of it good. And this has only made BetaArchive better and fit for duty when it becomes even better every day :P.

Good work everyone!

Thats because around 50% of the cost is covered by you guys :) I do pay 50% out of my own pocket but this is a hobby for me, and regardless of the donations I'd still have the server anyway. The donations do help a hell of a lot though since they keep everything free and it means I would never have to head in the direction of making members pay for their access.

Just would like to say thank you one more time.
Outstanding work :D

Also for the suggestions how about file uploader (small files, just like fixes, updates, documents, etc.)? I mean the size would be limited and also depended on user's class (new, advanced, vips, staff, etc.) ;)
