1KB/s on upload account problem solved, but...

Post by Andy »

Hello all,

You may have noticed when trying to upload the max you could do it was 1KB/s. This was because of a mis-configuration on my part. However, nobody reported this to me and its stayed like this for over 2 weeks.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE report things like this to me!!! If you don't report it, it doesn't get fixed. Thanks to someone on the forum who complained about this, I realised the issue and was able to fix it instantaneously.

This issue is probably why there have been no uploads over the last 2 weeks, so you only have yourselves to blame (and my dodgy config) for that.

Hopefully this will be a lesson to us all. Admin, get it right. Members, report problems. Easy!

While people should really report any issues, you just can't go and blame them for you're configuration file errors. I'm a UNIX sysadmin and I just had to say this. No offence, but blaming someone others due to your "etc errors" is just low.

I'm a little baffled as to how you came to the conclusion that he was
blaming people for his mistake...

Looks more like asking to be told if things are broke...
He just stated that if he made a mistake & nobody told him, how's
he supposed to know it needs to be fixed...
He's actually thanking someone for finally complaining about it
being broke...

Ken is right, I didn't blame anyone but myself, but because I don't use the upload account (I use another which wasn't affected), I wasn't aware of the issue, so it is down to people who do use it to report these things to me. Its the same with the Wiki. People were unable to login to it last week, but user ___ notified me of the problem, and I was able to fix it. But because I don't use the Wiki, I didn't know of the problem.

Not all system admins can be 100% perfect, after all I'm only human and mistakes can be made.
