Hello all,

Just letting you know that I'm going away for a few days on a last minute camping trip. I should be back by Thursday Evening.

As always pics will be available after the trip on www.andrewwhyman.co.uk :)

Its quite fun before we've even left. Heres how.

1.3L Ford Ka + 4 people + 4 people's luggage + roof box = Will the car move? :D

A 1.3L fiesta would do great, they have z-tec engines. Much more powerful. The car itself is bigger too.

A 1.3L fiesta would do great, they have z-tec engines. Much more powerful. The car itself is bigger too.

The Mk3 Fiestas had the same HCS engine as the Ka (actually an earlier revision than the Ka one) for the 1L, 1.1L and 1.3L. The 1.4 was a CVH lump, and there was a 1.6 Zetec-E engine, with the 1.8 Zetec-E being available in the RS1800 model. The Mk4 onwards had the 1.25 and 1.4 Zetec-S engines (The aluminium ones, co produced by Yamaha), and the 1.3 engine was the CVH-PTE engine.

tl;dr: The 1.3 in the Ka is no better than the 1.3 in the Fiesta :P

The Fiesta actually has more weight than the Ka :P

I've been...around. Beta collecting has taken a backseat recently, due to deciding to have a life instead. lol. I'm still around, occasionally :P

80's (Mk1+2) Fiesta = same engine as in the Ka, but possibly smaller (engine size was between 1L and 1.6L).

Actually the Fiesta's (at least my grandads) has a more powerful engine because its a ztec. He gets 20hp more than the standard Ka's 1.3 engine and a healthier top speed and nice acceleration too.

Yes, but you stated a '1.3 Zetec' in a Fiesta. There's no such thing as a 1.3 Zetec, you're thinking of the 1.25 Zetec-S.

Its actually a 1.275 Zetec but who is splitting hairs? ;)

And yes I'm back from holiday :)

Incorrect, ask any mechanic, ask any Ford dealer..its a 1.25 (actual value being 1242) :P - unless someone decided to modify it at some point and very slightly overbored it lol. (doubtful)

Even check Wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Fiest ... or_restyle

And yes, I'm pedantic at times :) But I know my Fords :p
