Hello all,

As you may or may not have noticed, we are back on my home server. Due to circumstances out of my control, the 100Mbps server has been unplugged due to non-payment by the person I get it off. Until this is resolved we will remain on the home server.

We may have lost up to 1 hour worth of posts due to this outage. We will never get these back as I cannot merge them into the forum.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused, and please be patient in waiting for images to load.

Andy (Admin)

Ive just confirmed the server was unplugged due to non-payment. I'm having words with the person I get it from. Until then BA will remain on the backup server at my house on the broadband.

I have removed the bandwidth restrictions so the speed will be slightly quicker (I had restrictions so I could browse properly myself without any slow down at home).

I am working on getting the server back online but I doubt this is going to happen unfortunately. Thankfully no more than 1 hour of data was lost.

I am returning home on Sunday, but I will need to take the server offline briefly because I need to sort out the partitioning on the drives as there is very little space left. This should only take an hour or so and I'll try and get another computer serving the site then.

I apologise for all the crap I'm putting you guys (and girls) through with regards to the site. I'm doing my best.

Andy (Admin)

No problem - thanks for your hard work! :) For me it's at least as fast on this server anyway.

Just remember how good of an Admin I am ;) No other Admin would have the site back up as quick as me :) Or would they... You decide ;)

Have to agree, I haven't noticed any speed difference and losing 1 hour of posts is much better than what I've seen other places :)

Hi Andy

You make a very good admin :D

If you are not able to get another box to host the site while you sort out the partitioning. If it is agreeable to you, i would be more than happy to host BA on one of my servers (powered by Apache :wink:) while you do the necessary maintenance

Thanks for keeping the site up and running andy. :) No admins that I know would be this persistent with keeping a small beta forum up.

@rawr:
1 hour is much much less than most places. Most places would lose a day, a week or maybe a month of posts.

@Apache:
I have a number of pc's at home that would do the job, but I'll keep your offer in mind. I don't think Apache would be too bad for a few hours :D

@Fireware:
You should know me by now. BA means a lot to me, and a lot of other people too. I actually stayed up an extra 2 hours last night to try and sort this out. I was due to go to bed at 1am, I went at 3am!

This site is still very fast with me. Great job!

BTW, if you had a complete failure, I would host your site at compact-mac.co.uk, since it's paid unlimited space, SQL, etc hosting, I wouldn't like to see this place go down. Not that it ever will, its like the new OSBA.

It it were me, then you'd have to wait several days until the site came back up... You know what my server is like, eh, Andy?

Yes I do, but was there any point in bringing up a 3 month old topic?

I am aware of how old the topic is, but if you don't want people to bring them up, then why not change rule five to the way it used to be, where you locked one month old topics...

I do appologise for this issue, lets have no more speak of it, eh...

Locked.

@Andy: If you think locking was wrong, feel free to unlock it. Just wanted to prevent that topic from being resurrected again and again.
