Any age restrictions for BetaArchive?

Post by superlions16 »

I'm just wondering, as I don't see any, but I'm curious. Title says it all.

IIRC there is no age restriction for registration, and there's no rule regarding a minimum age for being a member here, either.

For what there are restrictions are for the language used here, even if you are 60 years old or 8 years old (I wonder what would be an 8 year old kid doing in BetaArchive) the language you use must be respectful.

I am, for example, 15 years old, but I try to have respect to others and that others will respect me (Please don't be prejudiced just because my age ;) ). You just need to moderate your language and being respectful with others

I won't be prejudiced. I'm only 13.

Last time that happened, they tried to hack the HTML with a DOM inspector to get into the VIP section (now donators) of the board if I recall correctly.

I think a 6-year-old once registered here, if I remember correctly. He was permabanned.

Wow. I actually do wonder what a 6-year old kid could be doing in BA. I don't know if he would have FTP access or a unique release (In my case, I contributed a rare PhotoDeluxe 4.0 CD image and i'm only 13 like I said before) but then chances are slim.

So many freaking kids here. People born like 3-5 years after I was already 5 in 2000.

Essentially you have to be legally treated like a child or a minor, etc.

There's lots of things I can't share with you, talk to you about, humor I can't use around you, etc precisely because you as a 14 year old, are a minor.

I saw an R rated movie last night, I am 23, but with you being 14 they would not have let you in.

We're BetaArchive. We are not going to the cinema or living somewhere (eg. Apartment). Minor? Well in real life these "minor" stuff apply but not here. Well then wait 4 years, I don't mind. ;)

I don't comply with these "rated" stuff. At least everybody plays Call Of Duty :P .

Being or not a child matter nothing. What could a beta/abandonware have that is not classified for kids? This place is for beta and abandonware in general, not to discuss what did you eat this monday or what did you watch on Netflix last week. So technically there are none age restrictions in BA, as none of the stuff that should be here is "classified" (I said should, since there is people who posts undoubt things)

Always that you follow the rules, you are ok, no matter how old are you (But it's highly recommended that you know enough about what's discussed in this site so you can also discuss ;) )

Let's see what the dictionary says...

kid (plural kids)
(informal) a child (usually), teenager, or young adult; a juvenile

I cannot believe we use the dictionary to solve our conflicts. LOL

So now we're in a judge, so I cannot say anything without someone using it against me, eh?. I think the point was understandable, but if you want it right:
Child=!Teen
Do you like it now? Also never mind the age here, the earlier point was to prove that you can share anything related to the site, nevermind your age

Instead of arguing the semantics of who is a "child" vs. "teenager"-- back to the topic at hand.

I'd imagine under the new GDPR regulation the EU just passed, there isn't a specific age requirement on signing up for things and that sort of stuff. Since BetaArchive isn't hosted in the United States, it isn't subject to COPPA which bans taking PII from persons under the age of 13.

In general--we're very lenient on age requirements (myself having joined BA when I was 10), but there's a certain modicum of maturity that is to be expected from our users. So keep that in mind. :P

Sorry for the big bump, but did you guys realize there are some really old people here, for example BetaRunnerAaron is 101 years old today and that means he was born on the 13th of May 1918... I seriously can get my head around why the age difference here is 95 years (6 and 101)...

Will the be age restriction for the software and games up on the FTP? I don't know much about games but I am pretty sure some games were not allowed to be played by children under 12 years of age and etc.

I hate people wasting their time playing video games when they could do something more useful and video games are slowly destroying our next generation. If you want to play real games, play Minesweeper in office/class rather than Minecraft :P (you will never get caught)

Common sense tells me that probably won't be a real birth date...
