Re: Site update (forum upgrade finally!)

Wow! This is just... wow! I quite like this new theme :) but I'm sure going to miss the old BA layout. It'll take me a while to get used to it, though. The only downside is the ranks, such as the ones saying "Administrator", "Staff", "FTP Access", etc. The background is still white on those rank ima...

Re: Social: What does your desk look like?

This is my "temporary" setup, since the beginning of April. I had to carry my desktop back and forth from two places in the process :?

I put tape on the keyboard's space bar because it's loud when I press it.

Yeah, most Windows Longhorn builds don't support SATA, so that's likely why you're getting that problem. So like the others said, just set it to IDE, simple.

I don't think one would need to do that to make the user interface look more nice, IMO. Some people might want the icons to be the perfect size for better viewing. But that's just my perspective...

Re: Social: What does your desk look like?

Here's an update on my main desk (well, not a large update, but a tiny one, because there's only one little thing that's new to my setup :P). https://www.betaarchive.com/imageupload/2019-11/1572994792.th.6818.JPG What's different about my setup is, I'm now using another mouse. It's a gray and black ...

Re: Should we remove all Windows 10 releases?

Whoever is complaining about them are just whiners. Eh, I wouldn't consider them "whiners", maybe they're just people who really want that stuff removed, while many of us think it should all stay :) ------------------------------ Anyway, yes, the Windows 10 betas might be taking up too much space o...

with the market share on the decline and currently being under 10%, I can't imagine firefox being around past 2030. I personally doubt that. Re: What do you guys think of Windows 7’s EOL?

I don't think that will happen. Schools are usually quite delayed on the subject of upgrading OSes. I experienced that first hand. Heck, some organizations have already upgraded to the newest and hottest OS :P But like I said, some of the computers at my school still run Windows 7, but most of the ...

As a bit of an addendum from my previous post, here's my current setup at the new place with my PC in place. The iMac was just a temporary setup. I could are less. Because I haven't used Windows 7 in quite a while, now that I've switched to being a full Windows 10 user. I hope my school upgrades some of their computers to the latest OS, because some of them still run 7, but I'm sure they'll do something about it.

Re: How does the site look on Windows XP in 2019

Ow, you are talking about IE v6.0. But what about v8.0 - is there the same problem with it? When it comes to different versions of a program for a certain operating system, then I don't think it would have the same problem as another version. I guess I just thought you were asking about IE6 updates...

TravelMate 2480 is around the Pentium M/Celeron M era, so it should still work. I did say that OS betas sometimes refuse to work well on actual hardware. I don't know why that is, but usually one would find ways for them to work on a real computer. Hence his TravelMate being made from the Windows X...

Re: Windows XP build 2416 on Acer TravelMate 2480

Could it be due to the support those TravelMates might have with some early Windows XP builds? I'm no expert, but I know certain Whistler builds around 2419 can sometimes show problems with installation. But that kind of problem only happens to me when I don't have the BIOS set. Maybe it could be a...

Re: How does the site look on Windows XP in 2019

windows 2000/windows xp and xp x64 can get secure connections on ie6 by installing specific updates. Could you tell us, which ones? I think for IE6 in Windows XP, you would need the April 2008 update for IE6 SP3, as that has the latest updates included with XP SP3. I think it might work in the x64 ...

Re: Some message displays when I access BA?...

The site was hit with a DDoS attack last night so I put cloudflare in place to mitigate it. Unfortunately some people are also having issues with the FTP IP lock showing an IPv6 address as cloudflare has IPv6 support by default (can't be turned off). If anyone has this issue if they let me know the...

Yep, I just recognized the Cloudflare message at the bottom of the queue. It's likely a nice idea to prevent DDoS attacks when people visit websites, so maybe that was good thinking to have that feature. Not that it's a bad thing, but I guess those messages can sometimes be a little annoying at firs...

Some message displays when I access BA?...

Right, so this might be a little random, but since last night, when I've been visiting BetaArchive, I get this message saying that the site is checking my browser, and on the bottom, it says that the message is by a DDoS program. Is this new with the site? Or is it just something with my browser?

What are the exact files that need to be replaced from 8.1? I'm sorta lost DX Read the first post on this thread.
