Yep! There's the "Professional' and "Mallard" themes
Neither are new, other than having the source code to them, the themes have been part of Whistler builds that have been available for years. The Candy theme is new, as it never made it into any builds that are publicly available.

Re: Contents of the M$ Leak

One of the rather amusing finds, is an unreleased theme called "Candy". It's a complete and utter rip off of Apple's Aqua UI from OS X. Clearly this wasn't meant for release, as it's very broken, but it still shows some Windows devs were a bit envious of Steve Jobs' slick OS :P https://www.betaarchi...

How so? With the recent theme update, the look and feel isn't that different from the old forum software, at least to me. Well, unless you thought it used to be utter crap too *hehe*

The difference is that one uses TLC memory, and the other QLC. Here is a good video explaining the difference between the two, using the EVO and QVO as examples:

Re: Who still uses/has a Socket 478 Pentium 4

I do have a Gigabyte P4 Titan 8KNXP Socket 478 board, in its box right now. Planning on building a nice, high end Pentium 4 machine with that sometime, when I feel like messing with that era of hardware again. Currently more invested in 90s PC hardware, like my 386, 486, 6x86 and Pentium stuff, and ...

Re: Mobile site

Personally I prefer the desktop layout on mobile. I can see way more information at once and it's way easier to do stuff like properly format posts since all the buttons are clearly marked and out in the open, not hidden behind layers of submenus. To me, it feels faster and easier to use than most ...

Re: I can access FTP with Home net but can't with phone net

Hello, I've tried my FTP access via my phone's network. But it gave me "access denied" error. But I've successfully entered FTP server with home network. Why I can't access FTP server with phone network? The FTP is IP locked. It is locked to your home network, thus it cannot be accessed through you...

By "Ridata", do you mean it is a DVD-R? If so, it's very likely a bootleg, and won't be accepted for the FTP. Only original copies of software are permitted.

Re: Windows 10X Public Preview discussion

I'd just like to note that unlike standard bare Hyper-V, the 10 X emulator also requires support for nested virtualization. While both AMD and Intel CPUs support this in hardware, Hyper-V currently does not support nested virtualization on AMD hosts. As far as I'm aware, this limitation also affect...

Re: Why was build 4001 removed/moved from the FTP?

There's no need for that kind of harshness over a simple difference in opinions. I was merely commenting about betas, as in my view, those are a bit of a grey area in "incompleteness" due to their very nature, not releases in general, although I recognize I might have not been clear enough in this.

Re: Why was build 4001 removed/moved from the FTP?

I do find some irony in splitting up complete and incomplete betas, given we're talking about incomplete software in and of itself.

The fragmentation is becoming fatiguing when you have to start looking for specific uploads, so I hope this isn't going to be happening with a lot more betas.

I thought GOG releases of DOS games were basically just the game with DOSBox pre-configured for it? Do even DOS games sometimes have changes from the original release? Re: Should we remove all Windows 10 releases?

I think they should not be removed simply for archival reasons. But, if the Windows 10 releases start pushing the resources for the FTP thin, then they should be the first on the chopping block if absolutely ncessary. I don't have any reason to believe that's currently the case, though.

Re: What do you guys think of Windows 7’s EOL?

Windows 7 was, and in ways, still is a great OS, but all things come to a close. It does make me feel slightly old, as I remember being younger and excited about both Vista and 7. Windows 10 doesn't give me the excitement anymore, but I suppose growing older might have played a part in that.

Yep, I just recognized the Cloudflare message at the bottom of the queue. It's likely a nice idea to prevent DDoS attacks when people visit websites, so maybe that was good thinking to have that feature. Not that it's a bad thing, but I guess those messages can sometimes be a little annoying at fir...

Right, so this might be a little random, but since last night, when I've been visiting BetaArchive, I get this message saying that the site is checking my browser, and on the bottom, it says that the message is by a DDoS program. Is this new with the site? Or is it just something with my browser? I...

If you need something to plug the floppy drive into, could I suggest just looking for an old enough system that you could get your hands on? Something early Athlon XP, or Pentium 3, or older than those two, should have the BIOS and floppy controller features for 5.25" drives. Just look on local mark...

Re: Vista is an underrated OS.

The reason people hate Vista is because OEMs decided to slap “Vista Compatible” stickers on machines that shouldn’t ever be used for Vista. They expected an early Longhorn-style upgrade (there is a huge difference) and got what the plans for Blackcomb were. That’s right, Windows 7 was supposed to b...
