One probably can't go wrong with those, and the last one having been released 14 years ago they should all fit the bargain bin/garage sale criteria nicely.

Re: Extended Windows 7 support, even on Home & Starter SKUs

I don't think they'll start playing cat and mouse, at least not for serious. More likely they'll aim for keeping it juuust enough of a hassle to nudge people into upgrading (like they should). Similar to not letting that annoying "Genuine Advantage Notification" install itself on XP.

I think the best measure they have is that their intranet services that all their apps want to connect to aren't accessible from outside of the country Coincidentally, that might make RSOS a good way to experience what would happen if the large western cloud services (Google, Amazon, ...) were to go...

iirc previous releases of this, and related tech, were presented at the Chaos Communication Congress. You might want to browse through this year's "Fahrplan" to see if another talk about it is coming up.

edit: looked through it and saw nothing. maybe as a lightning talk? likely not though. pity.

Because they try to count number of operations they could do in 1 second with fingers and "run out of fingers", basically. Note: that happened with normal, perfectly real, hardware, not emulators! Wasn't that the issue with Pascal programs and their famous "error 200", around the time when clock sp...

Re: Internal special edition of Windows 7?

They already have that "clean slate". Do you know those Windows Embedded (or IoT, or whatever else they're calling it these days) editions? Yeah, those are basically your normal Windows, but broken down into components so you can install only those parts you need/want on the target device. (Don't co...

Re: Tomb Raider Last Revelation - Times Exclusive Level

I played that level - after simply downloading it off some TR fan site, I think it was a standalone, no-CD-required demo? Might've been patched, not sure what format(s) it originally came in. Do you believe the CD version to be in some way special, or is it just about confirming it exists?

I don't have an opinion either way with regards to nuke<-->keep, but I do want to say something about the deltas: While I think it'd be a good idea, I'd prefer to see something tried-and-true (and, if possible, open source to prevent vendor- or OS lock-in) being used. Personally I've never heard abo...

Re: Disconnected From the Upload FTP Server

Or simply have rar or 7z split the archive into, say, 50mb chunks and you'll only have to reupload any failed ones. Just like in the good old unstable-modem-connection- and servers-not-supporting-resume-days.

Though Mega etc have the advantage of being available to non FTP users too, which is nice.

Re: What is ReactOS Classified by?

A very bad way indeed. Did MS-DOS suddenly become Linux when MS released the source to it? "Is it WINE?" would've been a more reasonable question since at least those two share parts of the code. Even though they're not the same, maybe you could think of ROS as "a way to run WINE on bare metal" ¯\_(...

This topic is far from theoretical. The owner of MSFN threatened to shut down the forum last August. He was not receptive to attempts to take the forum off of his hands. Sounds like what's happening at Assemblergames right now. Actually it should've already shut down, only the admin/owner, who was ...

Well, thanks for deleting my post, whoever felt that was necessary. If it's part of the original distribution media, and not even personalized, I don't see why not. In fact, I'd argue that you should not remove it since you'd have to tamper with the distribution to remove the file.
