What hardware does Virtual PC exactly emulate?

I had this idea of implementing VPC's hardware in 86Box just for the heck of it. As far as I know, the emulated hardware seems to be: Intel 440BX chipset S3 Trio 64 VGA Sound Blaster 16 // machine/m_at_slot1.c? int machine_at_msvpc_init(const machine_t *model) { // TODO: // pci config // missing dev...

Re: Longhorn and ACPI SLIC activation

It's a crack that seems to be designed for RTM versions of Vista and probably a coincidence that it works on late betas. It's either: 1) official activator 2) an imitation in terms of style (more likely) https://www.betaarchive.com/imageupload/2019-07/1563645679.th.17832.png Given BA's policy on cra...

Longhorn and ACPI SLIC activation

It seems that OEM preactivation support via the BIOS SLIC in Longhorn was implemented since Beta 2 (or earlier?) I installed a crack that uses said activation method and got rid of the timebomb in 5259:

[Request] Windows 2000/NT 5 Build 1964

Is this build available anywhere? Wiki says it was leaked in 2015, but I can't seem to find it after a quick Google, not even on the FTP.

Re: Windows NT Server 5.0 Build 1631 in Virtual PC 2007

Excerpt from MS docs: One possible cause of this bug check is depletion of nonpaged pool memory. If the nonpaged pool memory is completely depleted, this error can stop the system. However, during the indexing process, if the amount of available nonpaged pool memory is very low, another kernel-mode ...

He is removed on 8.1?
It wasn't removed in 8.1. In fact, it still exists in Win10 as 'Windows Logon'.

Chicago 180 LAYOUT.INF - how to replace?

Extracted PRECOPY2.CAB from DMF release, overwrote LAYOUT.INF with fixed copy, recompressed with LZX format and placed into Disk 2. Then setup failed when I'm asked for Disk 2. Any ideas?

Well, I've tried BeamNG.drive (version 0.51) on this. It runs smoothly on lowest settings at 2560x1600 compared to my crappy GT 750M.

Although I haven't tried it, I would assume SATA may be another roadblock... but I may be wrong. Haven't researched if there are Win9x drivers for SATA. I have developed Patches to the Windows 9x Hard Disk Driver to support SATA. Well, I think Win9x uses the BIOS for disk access, so there is no nee...
