Hi,
how do I install the Update Agent on Windows NT 4.0?
I found an installer but it works only on >2000. It says I need a newer version of Windows.

Re: Install Update Agent on NT4.
What kind of question is this? You said yourself that it only works on NT5 and up, yet you want to install it on NT4.
Re: Install Update Agent on NT4.
Not going to happen I'm afraid (assuming you are talking about the windows update agent because if its a third party app MAYBE you could modify it although it sounds pointless. There is likely too much stuff missing from NT4 for it to work and Windows update was never supposed to be used with NT4 anyway...

Windows Update Agent was only made for Windows 98 and later.
After installing Internet Explorer 4.0, Windows 95 and NT 4.0 were both given access to Windows Update via the Tools > Windows Update menu in Internet Explorer.
NT 4.0 updates are available here; you need to click on each update and then "View Source" in your web browser to locate the ".exe" download file.

Unfortunately the original v3 update website (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/Stat ... efault.htm) was taken offline about 5 years ago, so there is no longer an automated way to install them.
I provided more information/detail on this in another forum a few years ago: http://www.computing.net/answers/window ... 70975.html
