[REPLACED] Windows 8 (6.2.7955.0)

Post by gus33000 »

The 7955 iso on the ftp, has been replaced by the one with the full installer of 7955. I was kind of surprised that it wasn't here, so enjoy :)

You can find a video about the upgrade process of this build below:

Interesting setup.

Was this the only setup of Windows 8 whose installation progress(pre-restart) was not in full screen?
As far as I can remember , Customer Preview and later was in full screen , but I do not remember about the Developer Preview.

The earlier builds were windowed IIRC

Interesting... So was an upgrade from Windows 7 required for installation, or is a clean install okay?

But the wim in your ISO image seemed to have been repacked and it's not original.

The 2nd leak (should be original):
Image
It's Windows Server 2008 R2 because it came from fbl_srv_wdacxml.

Your ISO:

4 July 2015? It's impossible to be original I think.

The ISO images are both not original. The 2nd leak is modified with PowerISO. Maybe the WIM of the 2nd leak is not original either but at least it has a proper timestamp and due to its small gap from built time, it may be original. The volume label should be GB1CULFRER_EN, not what "HM2", and the CDImage version should be 2.54, not 2.53.
You're supposed to provide the 2nd leak one. I don't see the necessity of repacking WIM.

Well I never said it was original either. Only the installer leaked, not the full ISO. also the label shouldn't be GB1CULFRER_EN as this was for Windows 7 Beta 1. Checking 7063 reveals that this should be the correct label and CDImage starting with Windows 8 was always CDI 2.53, quite an odd thing if you ask me. Also if you open the wim of the second leak you will see that it contains some tools at the root of the dir. Only that changed. Also the second leak, has all timestamps messed up. If you want more infos, this wim, is a sysprepped image from an actual computer afaik, so the two wims are not original at all.

But you are absolutely right about the wim creation time. So I will replace the WIM for sure. Edit: I'm uploading it now.

Also, may I ask how you got the ISO?

Also that's so long ago I touched at this ISO so I can't remember what exactly I did with it.

For preserving, we should get the original files. I think when a new operating system in a early stage of development, something still remains the same as the previous versions. So the volume label should be GB1 and not HM2. Labels like HM2 wasn't used until pre-beta (consumer preview) of Windows 8. CDImage version, in the same way, should be 2.53. Of course it may be changed and I may be wrong.
The 2nd leak ISO: magnet:?xt=urn:btih:075afc1e3f93dac7a3ec4df97dd81adc6ca99d6a
All files in it should be original, so maybe you need to repack it (or not).

Well while I agree with you for the most part, 7963 does have the HM2 label. Which is a not a consumer preview build. So I think HM2 is the good label. Also I'm keeping every iso. I already got this one. I took it, and only replaced the volume label. I'm currently uploading it as we speak. But thanks for the magnet anyway, I appreciate it :) And thanks for noticing that, it's only helping making the FTP better.

Wait, did you notice that 7963 ISO has a weird file MediaMeta.xml? IIRC, this file only exists in an ESD's index 1. But the WIM contains 5 images (4 for x64) and the timestamp is proper. So I guess maybe internal employees use folders instead of ISO images. If it's correct then the HM2 label should be incorrect.
