SCiZE's warez BBS collection

Post by DiskingRound »

Today I stumbled upon an interesting web page: http://scize.hopto.org/
Oh my... he has a lot of warez BBS files including some betas of various video games, drivers, etc. and occasionally unleaked betas of operating systems. There's very nice stuff in there!
Like unknown MS-DOS 6.0 builds:

Well it's nice to see an early PWA release...

I've sent him an email asking for some goodies but I have yet to receive a reply. Anyone else tried asking for stuff from his collection yet?

- DiskingRound: Are you sure that MS-DOS 6.00 Build isn't the one we already have on the FTP? It'd make sense too. Compiled on July 29th, released to testers who knows when, and then finally made it to the scene on August 14th.

It could be 0015 or any other build. There's no way of knowing until we receive that MS-DOS 6.00 Build.

Actually, I just checked. The original .ZIP files I have of 6.00.0015 have identical names to Scize's. In addition, the file sizes of each .ZIP are also identical to the byte. Therefore I can now confirm with 100% certainity the Build is 6.00.0015.

Edit: Even the date of the .ZIP's matches. August 14th, 1992.

Edit #2: And here are the files themselves: http://proxima.ringoflightning.net/dos6beta/ . You can verify for yourself that they match.

Update: SCiZE was so nice to send me the files I requested. However, I've checked and DOS6DEMO.ZIP is just a bootable disk of MS-DOS 6.00.0015. So nothing to keep.
If you still want the files he sent me: https://mega.co.nz/#!S9EiHQxQ!2wE_hTFM8 ... 7GA3fVHhyM
If anything, the following could be of interest:

Judging by the fact that file was pre'd on 4th December 1995 and Nashville 999 is from November 28th, 1995 I think that is just 999, but I could be wrong.
fexuaz555 wrote:pwab2w*.zip, NT 4.0 Workstation Beta 2
Didn't spot that, thanks for listing it. I have no idea whether this build is leaked or not, could be a Beta 2 candidate (126x-129x) or just some Beta 2 build.
fexuaz555 wrote:ewddk2**.zip, NT 5 Beta 1 DDK (980103)
I requested that before you, still thanks for listing it (and probably later offering it).
I've requested other stuff I and others found to him and will post an update once I receive them. So no need for you guys to request them.

It's likely 999, considering that it was pretty much the only scene leaked build of Nashville back then and it was the hot stuff at the time.

Offtopic Comment
You just made me remember something from September 2014: One time I came across Nashville build 999 in a warez CD and it was mislabeled as a February 1996 release :P
Update: It seems that the person who carries the files I want is requesting a trade (aka. swapping a file I have with the request). I don't have anything, unfortunately. We'll see.

Oh great :( I always wanted to trade the files myself then found you beat me to it :( Now my only option would be warez CDs, which are beyond impossible to find today... :(
Otherwise, a great thanks go to Overdoze for your trade and eventual offer! :) I'm glad I won't have to bother with trading.
BTW what are you requesting and what are you trading with?

I'd rather not go into specifics at this time in case I receive nothing of value. I am trading some potentially unleaked/lost betas for some of my personal collection.

Looks like he told me he doesn't want his name shown on this forum and others. Sorry, but he refuses to share his BBS files without that favor being done. :( Looks like Overdoze took over now, and he's trading with him and trying to get some betas.

Probably because I offered over a gig of stuff in return. He wants to share, but dont spam him with requests while offering nothing in return. I already have a list of potentially new stuff, so if there's something you want, PM me and I'll talk to him. He doesnt want increased site traffic he's getting and I understand him completely.

I'll upload the stuff posted on OSBA later today.

Can you post that list? It would be greatly appreciated. Good thing I won't have to bother by requesting, not trading, stuff, so a million thanks go to Overdoze for your offer! :)
