Opinions on Windows 10 build 10049 and Project Spartan?
Today I decided to make a thread here allowing you to share your opinions on the new Project Spartan in the Windows 10 build 10049 released to insiders yesterday. Even though I don't have Spartan on 10049 Enterprise for some reason, I still like it from screenshots I've seen online and from videos I've watched myself. So what are your opinions on the new browser? In addition, are there any new bugs/issues found in the build? if so, report them here.

Yeah it runs pretty well for me but Spartan seems to use a lot of my CPU.
Re: Opinions on Windows 10 build 10049 and Project Spartan?
It's fast, clean, and it includes Project Spartan browser.
Re: Opinions on Windows 10 build 10049 and Project Spartan?
My opinion of it is as low as the previous builds, 9926 and 10041.

Have anyone run a benchmark (Acid2, Acid3, etc.) on Project Spartan? Also, is that browser running on a new engine or using the old Trident engine?

A new engine.Terra854 wrote:Have anyone run a benchmark (Acid2, Acid3, etc.) on Project Spartan? Also, is that browser running on a new engine or using the old Trident engine?
Windows 10 will be the last version of Windows and after we will have Midori or an another kernel... I'm sure.
So on this new kernel "classic win32 x86 software" can't be used but with some trick, we can use WinRT software on this new kernel ?

My opinion is still the same as 10014-10041.

I must say that the installation process is quite heavy on resources and time-consuming , far more than what it used to be before.
On one laptop , it took about 90 minutes to finish the main installation , with the computer's fans running at full speed.
On another laptop , after 5 1/4 hours , I was still surprised to find out that it had completed only 23%. That computer's fans were also running at full speed.
Has Microsoft changed its installation process?
Also , I found 2 random folders called as 'Korea Media Player' and 'Korea Messenger' , on one computer , with its region settings set to a completely different country. Clicking it led to a Korean website. Is it some random test or is it a mistake?

If anyone is wondering, the engine powering Project Spartan is called "EdgeHTML"
EDIT: By the way can anyone help me with this problem?

@Terra854: That error has been mentioned several times on the forum already, and even happened to me once. Sadly the only known fix (that is confirmed to work for me atleast) is to do a clean reinstall of the operating system. That's probably your best bet.

Another fix (If you don't want to move all your data) is to do a refresh (PC Settings -> Update and Recovery -> Recovery -> Refresh my PC). Then when finished, search for updates and let the build install. The only problem for this method, is that you have to reinstall the applications, but compared to a "clean install" you don't have to remove your files.

There's an even better method - see http://www.betaarchive.com/forum/viewto ... 62&t=33932

Even saying its a fork of Trident is being generous.wasabilee wrote:and is fork of Trident
It is Trident. "Edge" doesn't exist, not as a separate engine. It's the fevered dreams of the marketing department at Microsoft trying desperately to convince gullible people that Spartan is not simply IE with a new GUI and a load of functionality thrown out in the short term to be re-introduced "sometime after RTM".

so its trident + seadragon ?

I have tested Sparta and it is faster and looks great. I do think tho that they stole a lot of designs from firefox and chrome

Spartan, just like IE, will be crap.
Half-Life is a pretty good game.

Anyone know how I could get the Mail app back on from 9926? It was actually quite useful.
