When you go to university and learn about theory of Operating Systems, you'll look for a book like this:
http://books.google.com/books/about/Ope ... edir_esc=y
When you talk about theory of Operating Systems, I'm thinking how processes/threads works. Along with file systems, memory management, kernel and software to hardware communication (drivers). Not a specific OS like Windows 2000.
