Another Windows 1.00 alpha...

Post by DiskingRound »

Went to a trip across Google and found this while searching for japanese Windows history pages.

I remember seeing an image of Windows 1.00 that had a date of November 1st, 1983 and the christmas tree graphics shown. This one has date of November 20th of the same year and no christmas tree graphics shown you can see the tips of the trees.
I want this beta... too bad it isn't leaked (yet). :(
Does anyone have any information about this beta of Windows 1.0? I'd be surprised if this isn't known already...
Edit: I translated the page using Google Translate, and it gave me some interesting words:
That website wrote: Launch of the 1983 Windows 1.00. (1983/11/20)
Microsoft Windows Version 1.00
It is possible to perform allocation to various applications in each of the Windows by utilizing Microsoft Windows. (Photos and text: "Month ASCII" published in 1983)
Could "Month ASCII" be the name of the magazine or article or whatever it was that featured pictures of this build?

Looks like the COMDEX build, like in this video (at about 7:06 in):

@TheWindowsXPGuy, I have watched that video many times before. I really wish they would have released it like that, too bad they didn't...
Anyway, this is a nice find. :) Hopefully I can find more of these Windows 1 screenshots in the future.

Here is that screenshot you were talking about. It is the highest resolution photograph of this version I could find.

I already made a couple threads back in 2012 regarding early Windows 1 versions:

I wish this build was leaked..... Sadly, since it was never even thought of being released unlike the Premiere Edition, it never will be.
