[Offer] Windows 95C (4.0.1111)
All files are dated 8-24-1996 and krnl386.exe from WIN95_04.CAB shows version 4.0.1111. The readme.txt on the cd also clearly states that this is a "August 1996" release.
Re: [Offer] Windows 95C (4.0.1111)
This is not Windows 95C, this is the original release of Windows 95B. However, if you scan and dump this correctly, it may be a better copy of what we have on the FTP.
Re: [Offer] Windows 95C (4.0.1111)
I'm downloading the one from the FTP to compare.
Re: [Offer] Windows 95C (4.0.1111)
The is the same but the time on the files and the size of the ISO is different on mine. The one on the FTP looks like a repack, but might also be a slightly different release.
Re: [Offer] Windows 95C (4.0.1111)
In that case, you can upload what you have as an alternate release.
Re: [Offer] Windows 95C (4.0.1111)
Uploaded to mrpijey's ftp. It might be wrong but I was told it was 95C at the time I got it (years ago). The only way to know for sure would be to install it in a VM.
Re: [Offer] Windows 95C (4.0.1111)
1111 is definitely B.

Re: [Offer] Windows 95C (4.0.1111)
Both 95B and 95C are 1111 unless you install the USBSUPP packages.
95C contains a forced install of IE4 and an updated VMM32.VXD (VMM.VXD version 1113, also available in a HotFix for 95B) for Pentium processors. If the \WIN95 folder of the CD contains IE4SETUP.EXE it is 95C. If not, it is 95B.

IE4SETUP.EXE is present in the \WIN95 folder, suggesting that it's 95C. The 95C on the FTP is dated 1997-11-26 though. Mine is clearly 1996-08-24.
The ISO name for my offer is also "WIN_95C", which may or may not be the original name. It's otherwise original and untouched.

Re: [Offer] Windows 95C (4.0.1111)
I've downloaded the 95C from the FTP server dated 1997-11-26 and it does appear to be different.
Also of note, the 1997 disc also says "August 1996" in the readme. Can someone confirm whether or not this disc is an official release? Granted, I cannot confirm that for my own either. I also do not have any scans.

Check the version of VMM.VXD - if it's 1216, you have the C release, otherwise you have any of the B releases (OSR2, OSR2+USB or OSR2.1).

Re: [Offer] Windows 95C (4.0.1111)
VMM32.VXD doesn't seem to have a version.
But after installation it is listed at version 4.00.950 C in System Properties. Kernel32.dll is listed as version "4.00.1111".

Well then I guess it's C, as it identifies itself as C.

VMM.VXD does not exist independently by default in any Windows 9x system. It will only be present if the 95 USBSUPP packages or a HotFix has been installed. By default, it is already packed inside VMM32.VXD, which has no version information as Kahdragz found.Kahdragz wrote:VMM32.VXD doesn't seem to have a version.

Windows 95 can be version "B" or "C" whether any USBSUPP Package has been installed or not, and both will identify themselves as 4.00.950 on the System Properties screen and 4.00.1111 in a DOS Box. The "B" or "C" is strictly related to the forced IE4 install and the updated VMM.VXD. In 95C, VMM32.VXD has been updated with VMM.VXD 4.00.1113 from the HotFix I mentioned already inside. Other than a few other very minor differences, 95C and 95B are identical. Even the CAB files are the same; 95C places newer files in the \WIN95 folder to override the older 95B files in the CABs.
Only after installing a USBSUPP package does any file or reported version number on either 95B or 95C change to 4.03.121x.
