[Offer] Windows NT 3.10 (3.10.517.1)

Post by Kahdragz »

I have a disc with the label "WINNT_OEM" which has files inside dated 03-11-1994. I extracted KERNEL32.DLL from /ALPHA which provides the version number: "3.10.517.1". The disc allows setup for Alpha, i386, and MIPS.

Although I have scans of all of my discs, they were unfortunately all done at 300 dpi and I no longer have access to make another.

We'd really appreciate it if you uploaded this NT 3.1. It would be a great addition to our collection.

Remember the only way to get NT 3.1 real build number is to check ntoskrnl!NtBuildNumber...

Nice, this would be the 2nd release of NT 3.1 which includes the Dec Alpha support. When NT 3.1 shipped it only included i386 and MIPS as the Alpha hardware wasn't shipping yet. Instead you'd only get a coupon for Alpha support when it was available. I think it was a small window of NT 3.1 for the Alpha until 3.5 was released which included support for MIPS/i386/Alpha in the box.

Cool find! And it'd make sense why the build number in NT 3.1 was bumped along with Alpha support. Although I suspect the i386/MIPS are original not slipstreamed.

Wow, I'm surprised I have a winner here; I had no idea.

I have almost 90GB worth of cd/floppy images I made copies of while helping my dad clean his old office. I have stuff that dates pretty far back. He was an technet subscriber which means I have several additional stacks of MSDN stuff I haven't even looked at yet.

Instead of working through MEGA, I'd appreciate it if I could get an upload account where I can get some help organizing all of this. I don't have the bandwidth to share with multiple people but I would like to work and organize over FTP.

An ssh/sftp also works.

Once I sort out my Dad's personal data from the software, I'll post a thread of all the stuff.

It doesn't mention beta or "confidential" anywhere on the disc:

Uploaded with scan to mrpijey's ftp. Sorry, but I scanned it at 300dpi at the time and I no longer have this disc.

May I happily ask what happened to this? I already checked BA's FTP and could not find any new NT 3.1 releases. I would also really like to install the build, and see if it's 517 or just our good old 511/528. Plus, Kahdragz hasn't even logged in since January 2, and sadly there is no other way to contact him.

I checked the disc (no good scan unfortunately) and ntoskrnl says 3.10.511.1. So it's no beta, but an RTM. But it differs from the ones we got anyway so i will put it up. But unfortunately I never got a good scan with the disc so I will put up only the MDF dump.
