[OFFER] FreeDOS Beta 9 SR2 "Methusalem"

Post by DiskingRound »

I just got my hands on a beta FreeDOS release from an old FTP, and here is the readme:

Code: Select all

THE FREEDOS BETA 9 ("Methusalem") DISTRIBUTION
November 30, 2005

See http://www.freedos.org for more information about FreeDOS.

This is a generic FreeDOS (CD) installation boot disk.
i Write it to a floppy (which you probably already have :-)
iii Boot using the floppy (insert FreeDOS CD in your CD drive)
iv Continue installation just as though you booted directly from the CD

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

FreeDOS is a trademark of Jim Hall.
It was claimed as a trademark to prevent its possible abuse or misuse.
The name FreeDOS may be used by the FreeDOS community to refer to
programs that are part of the FreeDOS operating system, or to associate
  their programs with FreeDOS.

Weird that "ver" identifies itself as 0.84.
I may not guarantee this is genuine; I don't know if it would be accepted to the FTP either, but I can upload if it's of interest.

IIRC FOSS software like this is not accepted unless it's a packaged product (like Ubuntu or SuSE), or of significant historical value.

Even though this is not accepted on the FTP, it still may deserve preservation of some sort, just like Courage's Solaris 11 offer. I currently have zero FreeDOS beta CDs.

You can still upload your contribution to mediafire so we can still try it out.

Here's what I searched for: http://www.filewatcher.com/_/?q=freedos+beta
Here's a link that works: ftp://ftp2.de.freebsd.org/pub/misc/free ... fullcd.iso
