[REQUEST] Any older versions of VMware Tools
I'm looking for older versions of VMware Tools except the versions made for Windows. Any contributions will be appreciated. I'm going to use these for an experiment.
Re: [REQUEST] Any older versions of VMware Tools
I have uploaded some VMware tools for Linux/FreeBSD from VMware workstation 1.x versions here:
https://mega.co.nz/#!U9FHkQwI!1KB3xEwm4 ... j66tFNAZpg
I also have some of the older Workstation installers here but I don't know if they'l be accepted as abandonware on the FTP since even my newer VMware betas didn't show up yet (I guess mrpijey is busy doing other things) so I'd like to wait until they show up before uploading anything else from VMware

I upload stuff to archive.org from time to time. See here for everything that doesn't fit BA
Re: [REQUEST] Any older versions of VMware Tools
Can you extract the Linux and FreeBSD Tools from the versions you have? Thanks for the 1.x tools and in advance!
Re: [REQUEST] Any older versions of VMware Tools
I probably could, but it's a lot of work because you have to install each VMware version to get at the files (the packed setup files are hard/impossible to extract). your best bet is to wait and hope that VMware abandonware will be accepted on the FTP, then I'll upload some of my older versions...

OK, thanks in advance.

@Darkstar: Which builds do you have? For help, see: https://communities.vmware.com/docs/DOC-18302Darkstar wrote:I have uploaded some VMware tools for Linux/FreeBSD from VMware workstation 1.x versions here:

The FTP has very few VMware builds (of any product) which is ironic given how much its members virtualize OSes.
Re: [REQUEST] Any older versions of VMware Tools
I uploaded around 20 Beta, RC and preview builds which still have to be sorted by mrpijey because they landed on some other harddisk or something.
As soon as they are accepted (*if* they are accepted) I can start uploading some more non-beta abandonware builds in the 1.x - 5.x version range. We have a lot of those still lying around on our company's servers. I just want to wait to see if there's anything wrong with my current uploads before I start uploading more and more gigabytes which later get rejected because of something. My upstream is not that fast and I'd hate having to upload stuff twice.
Thanks for the link though, I can check later which builds exactly I have

Re: [REQUEST] Any older versions of VMware Tools
Thanks for posting your inventory. Mine isn't organized or complete. I set about fixing that this spring. I started off with VMware Server. I researched VMware.com via archive.org to compile an exhaustive list of releases (and almost as importantly, their MD5s), then download them. A surprising number were still on VMware.com and Archive.org, and a few more on various FTP servers.Darkstar wrote:Thanks for the link though, I can check later which builds exactly I have
Here's the result of that effort. Rows without a link (except VMware-server-2.0.0-116503.exe) were versions I couldn't locate anywhere.

Work permitting, I'll try to do the same for Player and Workstation later this year.
Re: [REQUEST] Any older versions of VMware Tools
Wow, thanks for the links, voidp!
@Darkstar: Your VMware Betas are now on the FTP.

Re: [REQUEST] Any older versions of VMware Tools
VMware released tools for OS/2 but I haven't been able to find a downloadable copy. Here's the archive.org link. The link itself redirects to a 404.

VMware Tools for OS/2 are rare as Win32 Subsystem for Windows NT PowerPC Edition. I still have my hopes that someone in the world saved a copy of them.

I'm not sure how useful this still is, It's unclear to me if this is the full original zip file or not but some of you interested may be able to tell
