Hi I have a question, whenever I use old versions of Xfree86 (3.x.x below) the text is always garbled in qemu.
may i ask Why?

It could be the Video Driver

Disable all acceleration in your XConfig file. I forgot what option to set, but it should be documented in that file.
PS: If you can get around that problem, QEMU is one of the best hypervisors to run old versions of Linux.
