Windows 2000 BSoD in VirtualBox
Windows 2000 BSoD in VirtualBox
Hi guys! I need your help with the following problem:
I installed Windows 2000 Professional on Virtual PC 2007. Then, I installed Virtual Machine Additions.
One week later, I installed Windows 8 on my PC, but Virtual PC 2007 is incompatible with Windows 8. I tried to run Windows 2000 on VirtualBox by connecting VHD to VirtualBox VM.
After starting Win2k, I got BSoD message KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED.
I understood that the reason is VirtualPC VM Add-Ons. I want to remove it through the Safe mode, but they don't remove.
Can you help me without reinstalling Windows 2000?
Sorry if my English is bad

You can run VPC2007 on Windows 8, there's a tutorial somewhere on the forum...
Just re-install it, it'll be faster than trying to make the installation work in a new environment.

Here's the topic containing the tutorial:

The tutorial is around the halfway point of the topic.

Re: Windows 2000 BSoD in VirtualBox
He tried running a VM installed using a DIFFERENT program. 9/10 times it won't work because different WM programs emulate different hardware. His win2k had core drivers geared for VPC2007, not VBox. The only solutions to this is just keep using VPC2007 for Win2k, or just reinstall 2k in VBox.

Did you try Device manager in safe mode to remove it? (assuming from what you said that it booted up) Or couldn't that be the issue with disc driver?

You can't enter safe mode until Setup is complete.mibrab wrote:Did you try Device manager in safe mode to remove it? (assuming from what you said that it booted up) Or couldn't that be the issue with disc driver?

I must have been drunk... Somehow I thought this thread is about the buggy Windows 2000 HDD driver.Lukas Marsik wrote:The system is already installed.AlphaBeta wrote:You can't enter safe mode until Setup is complete.
