Re: Changing language on Windows 98 SE
It has been a while since I've used Windows 98. Have you searched in Regional Settings?veso266 wrote:Hi is posible to change language on windows 98 Second edition (like on windows 7 Ultimate you just use mui)

Also, I am not sure if this is what you were referring to, but please see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/141306

Re: Changing language on Windows 98 SE
Yes but if I reinstall then I will lose all my data (I don't know how to reinstall only a language)
Re: Changing language on Windows 98 SE
You cannot. Back up the data and reinstall completely.
Windows Defender for great justice! Bugs are an international trading company. I need to defeat the anti-debugging and obfuscation methods. It wasn't for Intel's absurd ability to load in ie6. Why even waste time with people in an envelope?
Re: Changing language on Windows 98 SE
I am sorry about that. I have not used Windows 98 for a good while and never had a reason to change my display language. I admit that I was not sure if the link I previously posted would help, but it is nice to see that others have responded with a possible solution.veso266 wrote:@Maza this is for keybord but I need to change display language

Re: Changing language on Windows 98 SE
There's no way to change the language on 9x save for a reinstall, since all the strings are hardcoded to one single language. If you install updates or drivers from another language, you'll get mixups... If that bothers you, reinstall those components from a package with your native language.

Maybe this will help:

Re: Changing language on Windows 98 SE
It won't. XP's approach to multilignuality is not present on 9x. Maybe if we were talking about Windows NT...
Re: Changing language on Windows 98 SE
Ok how about Windows NT any way to change display language?
Re: Changing language on Windows 98 SE
Yeah, I just read up on that, doesn't look much better. Apparently the whole MUI idea was introduced with NT5.0 (i.e. Windows 2000). Before that, I reckon the situation was similar to the 9x family.
Re: Changing language on Windows 98 SE
but is the MUI for 2000 the same as for XP?

Re: Changing language on Windows 98 SE
Windows 2000 or XP introduced MUI. That means you can't.

Re: Changing language on Windows 98 SE
so any slovenian MUI for Windows 2000?
Re: Changing language on Windows 98 SE
No. NT didn't get translated into Slovenian until XP, but Windows 95 is the absolute first version (and among the first MS products) available in Slovenian. Only Office 4.3 predates it as far as the translation goes, IIRC.veso266 wrote:so any slovenian MUI for Windows 2000?

What do you mean with this? isn't IRC a comunication interfaceveso266 wrote:Only Office 4.3 predates it as far as the translation goes, IIRC.
Re: Changing language on Windows 98 SE
Not really. 9x was the OS for the masses (aka home users/ordinary people), so they had to translate it into as many languages as possible to make it more appealing.veso266 wrote:hmm so Windows 95, 98, ME is in Slovenian but Windows 2000 isn't thats weird
NT, on the other hand, was for more professional use, where one was expected to have some knowledge of foreign languages anyway. On top of that, the user base was much smaller, so it didn't really make sense to translate it into all the languages.
