Appleseed: Public Beta Test for OS X

Post by compgeke »

A bit of an interesting change from Apple, but it seems they're doing a public beta test now of OS 10.9.3. Previously most beta testing was done by people in their developer program rather than open to anyone.

You will need a current Mac however, it's not a dmg update and the hackintosh world won't have much yet.

Here's a link for anyone interested: https://appleseed.apple.com/sp/betaprogram/

There isn't much of a improvement to me. However, for me it's even worse, as graphics driver got removed, and mousepad doesn't work.

Indeed. The latest 10.9.3 beta works perfectly on a real Mac Mini.
Windows Defender for great justice! Bugs are an international trading company. I need to defeat the anti-debugging and obfuscation methods. It wasn't for Intel's absurd ability to load in ie6. Why even waste time with people in an envelope?

I can confirm that this build works flawlessly on my Hackintosh (GA-Z77X-UD5H mobo)

Apple has never done a public beta before - I wonder if they'll (over time) start releasing public betas of their upcoming OSes to Apple Developers. Apple seems to thrive over the marketing hype from their secretive OSes, so probably not, but it would be nice!

Do you realize that Apple doesn't provide support for Hackintoshes?

What are you talking about? OS X Kodiak was a public beta.

First one million people to sign up for the public beta get to preview Yosemite. The WWDC keynote gave a cryptic "summer" for availability, and the link gives an even more ambiguous "soon". Still, this is a rare thing for Apple to do!

Just download the DP off torrents if you want to experience it, should you not have a dev account. Saves you from waiting until summer, or whatever.

True, it's been almost 14 years since Apple didn't make a public beta. I think it's because the user interface and features were totally revamped and features need to be tested before the official release.

However, if OS X had kept its usual UI from Mavericks, it would have been less likely that Apple would make a public beta.
