How can I install Windows 1.0 (rc5) on a new VM in VMware?

PCem is the answer, not VMware (VMware doesn't even emulate a serial mouse which is required by Win1.0 DR5)

You don't have a CHANCE with VMWare.

As the others said, you don't even have a ghost of a chance in VMware. Use PCem instead.
