How can I install Windows Memphis build 4.10.1415?

Post by Morea »

I want to install Windows Memphis build 1415 on a new virtual hard disk in Vmware Workstation. The problem is that I have to create a partition to install Windows because the vhd is empty! However I don't know how to do this! Who can help me please? By the way, this is my 1st post here!! I'm really honored to share my passion for Windows old operating systems with all of you!! :D

boot from a windows 98 bootdisk and select with cd support. At the command prompt type 'fdisk' and select option one until it asks you to reboot, than boot from the bootdisk again and type 'format C:' than run setup again

Let me explain this to you, Morea, since you are a new user.

1. Insert a MS-DOS 6.x or Windows 9x bootdisk.
2. When you see A:\>, type in fdisk.exe.
3. Select Create DOS partition or Logical DOS Drive.
4. Select Create Primary DOS Partition.
5. When prompted, press Enter.
6. Reboot the system with the disk inserted.
7. Type in format C:.
8. When prompted, press Y.
9. Give your newly created partition a title (optional), then press Enter.

And there you go! Hope this helps!

The only issue here is that MS-DOS 6 and Windows 95 "Gold" startup disks do not support FAT32, and therefore can only create partitions up to 2 GB in size. Windows 95 OSR 2 and Memphis startup disks, on the other hand, are able to support FAT32 and therefore can create partitions up to 32 GB in size (if not even larger than that).

If you do use an MS-DOS 6 or Windows 95 "Gold" startup disk, however, then I would recommend for you to run the FAT32 Converter after Windows is installed.
