Making a Win98 SE USB.
Possible? Yes.
Yes it is, BA users.
REQUIREMENTS
- Pen drive. 1 GB
- Computer with a BIOS capable of booting from USB
- Windows 98 SE installation ISO.
- Win98boot.zip ( REQUIRED )
- HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool.
Preparing your USB drive
Download the formatting tool. You can google it.
When your done, go ahead and unzip it.
Insert your USB.
Run the formatting tool with Admin privileges.
Pick your USB, and choose FAT as the file system.
DOS Part
Download Win98boot.zip, make a folder for it, put the zip in the folder, and extract it. Put the zip somewhere else.
Go back to the formatting tool, and tick the Create a DOS system disk box.
Search for your DOS folder, and select.
Win98 SE ISO
This can take some time.
So, open your ISO with Win-rar, or whatever you have, and extract the files into your USB.
This sector takes time, so be patient.
RESTARTING THE COMPUTER
Type Dir.
If you see your Dir, cd to it.
Now, type in:
setup /c /it /p a;b
Press enter!
SETUP
You may get 'Caution Errors' at this point.
Nothing to worry about.
Pick your location to where you wanna install Win98 and method.
Now... The problem is.. is that Win98 needs 512 MB of space.
You have to edit that.
Reboot into your system, and then edit SYSTEM.INI.
Pick your size. Save it.
Go back into the USB.
Put in your Serial # when asked.
If you get a message asking you to install System BUS, I'd suggest not doing it, so, pick no.
If you get an error about java, it's fine. Click OK.
ENJOY YOUR WIN98 USB!

So. You want to install XP in a computer?
But how can you do it?
Via a USB Pen, my friend! Impossible? Naaaah.
GETTING AN ISO
Getting an ISO from the Net isn't possible, but in Thepiratebay's world, it is.
Get a ISO from there, or from somewhere else.
Or from your WinXP CD, that's how simple it is.
INSTALLING IT IN YOUR USB
WinPrepFromUSB or Novicorp WinToFlash are your tools.
They're simple to follow.
For RMPrepUSB, 1 and 2 are done. But you can change the name.
For 3, pick XP/BartPE.
4 is pre-set already, but you can change it to NTFS, if you like NTFS.
5 is not necessary, since you will do it in the WinSetupFromUSB window.
Press 6! Press OK. Your windows are minimized, and press OK. When it's done, close RMPrepUSB. Bootice is complicated, but if you feel like going in it, go ahead.
Tick the Windows box. Go to your setup folder, and select it. Press GO!
And it will copy everything.
WINTOFLASH
You can click the tick in the start, and follow the wizard.
Or you can manually do it. It's your choice.
RUFUS
Simple.
You pick your USB.
File System.
And search for your ISO. ( Disk with CD icon. )
Press go.
And your done!
Only issue is that you don't have Internet or Sound.
Get the drivers from another computer you have. Simple.

The Win98 guide seems pretty neat but WinToFlash is one of the worst XP-to-USB apps I used (speed wise)

Please read the original post. You'll find the answer there.betaluva wrote:so are you running win98 on the usb stick or installing win98 to C: on the computer?

This. It took few hours to just copy the install files in the usetup part.Lukas Marsik wrote:WinToFlash is one of the worst XP-to-USB apps I used (speed wise)
I also heard that when you format the USB to some other FS, it's a lot faster.

For me WinToFlash has always been quite fast.
Windows Defender for great justice! Bugs are an international trading company. I need to defeat the anti-debugging and obfuscation methods. It wasn't for Intel's absurd ability to load in ie6. Why even waste time with people in an envelope?

I was talking about a XP stick made by it.Wheatley wrote:For me WinToFlash has always been quite fast.

That was also fast for me.
