What would it take to install internet explorer 9 on xp sp3. Minimum requirements state vista sp2 as the o/s.Any way around this.and what other files would be necessary to modify or install as well in order to make this possible. Any thoughts?

Not possible no matter what you do I'm afraid. It simply is not compatible.
Windows Defender for great justice! Bugs are an international trading company. I need to defeat the anti-debugging and obfuscation methods. It wasn't for Intel's absurd ability to load in ie6. Why even waste time with people in an envelope?

Internet Explorer 9 utilizes Direct2D, part of DirectX 10, which is simply not available on Windows XP. Adding compatibility for that would involve more than changing a few files in IE9, I'm afraid.

It's not official possible to start IE9 on XP SP3, but try it. Don't forget on problems causing in XP SP3 (crashing while running IE9, unreliable installation etc.)

How is he supposed to install it on XP in the first place?

Well, how can you run IE9 on XP, when the EXE has got wrong subsystem version that causes the "Not a Win32 app" error on XP.

Maybe it's possible to copying files from Program Files/Internet Explorer in Windows 7 SP1 to Windows XP SP3 and changing some files with Notepad or Visual Studio. If it's possible to install IE6 on Windows 95, maybe it's possible force to start IE9 on XP SP3.

lolno, things aren't as easy and straightforward as you think. You clearly lack the knowledge on such things, so I strongly recommend you look up on the matter or remain silent before further embarrassing yourself.

Microsoft is quite serious on not letting IE9 to run on Windows XP that they sent a cease-and-desist order to someone who managed to get IE9 working on XP.

That would be pretty much impossible, since Internet Explorer 11 requires the NT kernel. And even Windows 9x with KernelEx probably wouldn't work either.

But in the event that it was actually possible, I would definitely be interested in it, since I have considered making an attempt to see if Windows 3.x is still usable for day to day activities. But I'm very much certain that no one will manage to get Internet Explorer 11 to work on Windows 3.x though, because it's completely incompatible.

I knew you were joking all along, but still. :P

I'm sure you can get it to install, but in order for it to run you'd need a DirectX 10 install, which is obviously not there on XP.
You might find a way if you disable hardware acceleration though...

This is a daydream. The kernel is not same,IE9 is disigned for NT6.
IE 11 can install on Win7 because it install a "kernel" for Win7,you can see the version,it show:9431.
Or you make a "kernel" for XP
