[eBay found] Huge load of Apple Mac OS system discs

Post by trustBA »

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-Mac-Co ... 564ba99116]

According to the seller's description, it has over 350+ discs of Mac OS system discs from System 7.5 to Mac OS X 10.6.
Looks interesting for me, have you interested?

That's a huge collection. I would bid on it, since it seems affordable, but he doesn't ship to where I live. :(

Because the seller contains the universal install discs (such as Mac OS 8.5 CD - Not for Resale), System 7 specific discs (such as Power Macintosh 9500 disc and Performa 5215cd disc), Mac OS 8 specific discs (such as iMac Software Install and Macintosh PowerBook G3 Series), Mac OS 9 specific discs (such as Power Mac G4, PowerBook G4), Mac OS X specific discs (such as MacBook Pro, Power Mac G5, Mac Pro, iMac, and so on) into one single auction with total count of 450+ discs. Winning bid takes them all.

Someone on BA has to bid on this and then upload the Abandonware and then when the time comes upload all the rest.

That's what I call a good deal, especially when you are a collector.
Like giantsteen said, maybe someone from our community bids on it, gets it and can upload Version we don't own to the FTP

It's interessant, but there is a big problem : many of the disc are « OEM » disc (the grey) and it's complicated to use this type of disc on all Mac.

Well most of them (such as Power Mac G5, MacBook, iMac G5/Intel discs shown) are not abandonware but some of them (such as Power Macintosh, Performa, iMac G3, Power Mac G3/G4, PowerBook, etc.) are mostly abandonware.

I would be happy to bid on it if someone here then could help shipping this to me. But I bet this collection will go for quite a lot of money.

Yup, US residents only. Hope some of the BetaArchive members lived in United States can bid this one and then share them all (with the exception of newer discs that showing Mac OS X 10.3 and later) without getting outbidding.

I hope one of the BetaArchive members can win the bid to get the loads of system discs, saving money for buying Mac OS X Snow Leopard/Lion upgrade kit.

Woah, it was sold at $215.. It seems that the new bidder who bidded on it only once took the item..
