[OFFER] bluePlex

Post by DBlake »

I was digging thru some old archives, and came across the bluePlex patches for Longhorn 3718. Would anyone want me to upload? I didn't know if anyone would like this or not so I am asking.
Some screenshots included with it:

WOW, I remember testing this a long time ago. Its been almost 3 or 4 years, never gets old! Sadly like all Longhorn projects this was never completed. Although this was the best fix for 3718. I even see my old screen name on one of the screenshots.

there were actually four themes:

bluePlex, which was the only one ready for the release that I made.

a greenPlex that was a colour-shifted bluePlex, which was readied for Beta 1, along with a minor update to bluePlex.

a greenPlex that was a theme in it's own right, which is the one seen in all greenPlex screenshots, though this never got very advanced.

"alphaPlex" - which was Stass's (from Joejoe) remixed blue plex theme for 3718, which he offered to the protoPlex project and was integrated ready for a beta 1 release.

Frankly, the beta 1 release was quite ready, it's just our install-creater at the time disappeared, and it never really regained the momentum that it lost, and then the other themer besides me left and I was uninterested in pushing it along myself.
protoPlex was always about more than just themes though, it targetted a number of functionality changes. Not least the inclusion of server and client components, including both Media Center and Tablet components. We also intended to make it more prepared for modern software, and spent ages trying to perfect .NET 2.0 on 3718, something which I have since perfected. (I actually perfected it at the time, then promptly forgot how I did it, meaning we had to start all over again >_<)

Currently uploading. It will be done soon (the ISO is 79.23MB so it will take a few minutes).

I'm interested to know who packed it in that ISO that's been circulating, I know we just released it as a single EXE.

Here's some "Beta 1" bluePlex Screenshots I dug up.

Thanks for the bluePlex style, DBlake. Now let me get this straight... this patch only works on... Longhorn 3xxx right or does it work on Windows XP RTM? Sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm a little bit confused.

Edit: Nevermind, I read the .txt files on the ISO. But can this patch work with other 3xxx Longhorn builds?

Follow this instructions for making Longhorn appear as Windows XP:
http://www.betaarchive.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=27164
This happens because WMP10 is WHQL'd for 5.1.2600 and longhorn is 6.0.3718
If you still can't install it,download WMP10 from Microsoft website:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/ ... 0Setup.exe
