As for hosting, i own 50% of a hosting and online backup company (www.sabas.dk), we'll be happy to host the project (php+mysql+svn+bugzilla) and or in its own virtual instance with eg. a hosted hyper-v on a 100mbit unmetered connection with the "project" itself running on.

You can also use my hosting! I have a at least 3MB/s upload, I tested it with a 3MB download PC (lol, probably can do more than 3MB/s). This is the server ALPC is hosted on.

Count me in. Even though I run a Mac, I have various VM's, and can always boot up an older machine for scalability testing. I have been hacking away at windows files for years, and have a working knowledge of hex editing, and getting things to work together. I've got books for learning C++ and such, but haven't had a chance to give them a go. A project like this will at least force me to learn more I have a knowledge of VB6 and VC#, as well as minor PHP, SQL, and other web-languages. I'm willing to do some of the nitty-gritty stuff with the kernel, or whatever lies at the bottom of the barrel.

I can do it too. I wrote C# for professional programming, but havent used it much since. I hope this will be a chance to sharpen-up my skills. I also can heavily mod the files...

If you're getting involved too then maybe you could just create a sub forum on your forum?

The 4-bit colors are a limitation, of course, but it's doable:
Starting from a vectorial source makes it easy to produce many other related graphics and icons, of whatever resolution needed. It works with 16 colors and even with Microsoft's 4-bit color swatches without need for artifacts like dithering...
Woah, that's really amazing...I don't mind at all, I'll put it in place of the logo now Thx, I'll work on the "bar" that slides by on start-up now.

Thanks! hehehe Once you make the final 640x480 4-bit file, you'll find that everything will look crapy. It will be impossible to have the anti-aliasing we're used to on the text, for instance.
I'll whip up two examples in a minute: one for that logo, and one for the "one color" idea.

I've offered up some FTP space, which should help get the project off its feet. I look forward to where this is going. We should probably get a Git or SVN server up, so we can track changes and bugs.
