Favourite OS OSX & LH4074
Hey, I'll join in, i just quit at http://www.startforce.com (leading webtop/webos) as Project/Product Manager, so i should have some management/QA skills we could use here.
As a side project, me and a couple of other people is re-doing LH4074 as a webtop on longhorn.dk
But offcourse, there is allways room for one more.
* Do we Have a bugzilla/bug tracking for "it" ? * Are you using a SVN server for code checkin ? * Do we have a QA team setup ? * Do we have a wiki/forum/etc. to track what we are doing ? * How do we track changes to the code etc. ?

I don't know about that. But the Starforce is not that bad of a Webtop.

Hmm nvm I just edited a pic of the full thing instead of the bar on the top... I think Illinois is kinda redneck (no offense), it makes this image in my head:

+1 for Peanut Butter
I still think BA-OS would be a neat one... simple, easy, clean... SHORT! =) codename pizzaboy has a nice ring to it =P
I've just prepped a few of my systems with fresh disks, clean CD Drives (most were ripped from the units for use in other systems) and decided to go a little crazy by re-installing my Mac 6100 SoftWindows VM to see what this OS can do...

i dont know about that because the uxtheme patch can cause explorer.exe to crash
When did it crash? I have a machine running, XP SP3 with UxTheme Patch (mutlipatcher 6.0) and it never crashes. Then I think you are using a not correct version of the patch.
But anyway. When and where would be a forum for this project be online? When and where are we distributing builds?
I hope that this project is not cancelled before it even really begins (like with so many projects).

Let's hope not. I already have the winver ready to go.

I couldn't get the Logged in time for the winver app...
It would be a waste of an app.

plus we can do more with actual DWM
because the LH themes are already signed.... and if we really need we could try a live patch
that within windows put out and is working on..
but that stuff is mostly cosmetic
If we started to talk about Longhorn. May be we will put in sidebar?

i got the patcher directly from within windows.com right when sp3 first came out... even sp2 crashed with patched themes... its usually happens when the desktop icons refresh.. like when you close a zip file if i could just disable icon/data refreshing then i wouldent have this issue ever again
i dont know abut the feasibility of this project.. it would be very nice.. but what worrys me the most is actual windows code being used
if its able to be kept air tight and dis associated with BA then it might not be so bad..

So, any concepts for this OS? Faster than the current Windows, or more feature loaded? (PS. Do not try fixing WinFS.)
its using server 2k3 with actual nt4 code besides that winFS beta 1 is on the M1 server

May I suggest, to keep BA from another LHR style fiasco... that we DO NOT USE "Microsoft" or "Windows" in this project? It will keep alot of heat off of BA if we omit use of those 2 words in this custom OS, and it will make it seem less murky when it comes to using parts of the Windows source...
