Windows 95. I was only 8, good old times

1994: Windows 3.1 on some old AT clone, i was 4 years old back then, and i, sadly, dont own the system anymore. I don`t even remember which version of DOS it was running.

1996: Windows 95 on a Pentium 75Mhz
1999: Windows 98SE on a Pentium3 450MHz
2001: Windows 98SE on a Duron 800MHz
2005: Windows XP Home on a Sempron 3000+
2008: Windows Vista Home Premium on a Dore2 Duo 2,4GHz
2008 + 2-3 days: Windows XP Pro, on the same computer as above

I suppose System 7 and Windows 3.1.

The first machine I got was an 80386DX with Windows 3.1. Later I got a Pentium with Windows 95.

I think the thread is What was the first Operating System you ever used? and not What is the oldest Operating System you ever used?

Mine was somewhere around 1992, DOS but that's all I remember. It was on a Packard Bell which came with some special graphical menu for launching apps that they had made themselves. I remember launching games from it when I was little; Space Vegetables (which I wish I had a copy of) has to be the one I remember the most from that long ago, although I never really figured out how to play it.

Man... I remember waaaay back when I was about 4(first time I'd seen a computer) I was using a very basic shell... Can't remember what the OS was... May have been a very basic DOS. If anyone can identify it, I would appreciate it.

I believe it was Windows 95 with MS BOB. I was 3-4 Years old at the time.

It was a DOS shell running on 486, but one of the options selectable was Windows 3.1 so I used that sometimes.

Mine happened to be DOS 4.01 (I think) running MenuMatic 6.0 on some ancient machine at my uncle's house.

Some operating system on some 1980's Amstrad, back in 1998

The first computer had none. I mean, you just wrote to a resident driver, octal-bytes straight (not even assembler!).

The second computer had ROM-BASIC, which i suppose qualifies as an operating system.

The third one had something like IBM-DOS 3.2 or something, lurking behind an Site menu, from which one launched the likes of Multi-mate and Lotus 1.2.3

The first MS operating system i used was ROM-BASIC, and then Windows 3.0. MS-DOS did not appear until the 1992.

I would have to say Windows 3.11 and Windows 98. I had my own PC back in 1998, and it was running Windows 3.1. and my Mom at the time had a Intel Pentium II (233MHz) running Windows 98FE.

My first OS i ever used was Windows 95

The first ever operation system I used was Microsoft Windows 95. At the time I only used it for gaming and other things along those lines.

Windows 3.1 or WfW3.11 (dont remember which). The box got "upgraded to" (read: reformatted and reinstalled with) win95 OSR2.

Windows 3.1 in 1992

First OS I used was Windows 98. Followed by a succession of Windows 95 computers, then Windows 98 again, then Windows 2000. Then from Windows 2000, I moved straight to Vista, then used XP, and now I have Server 2008 and Windows 7 RC1.
