It can, but I have an SP2 disk here and just want to test it on SP2 because many people that doesn't update still have SP2.

I made it on XP SP3, so i thing some things might not work I think. But it is always handy to know if it also works on XP sp2.

Good idea to put it on the BA-desktop, but I will put it also on a kind of temporary FTP server, for the people who haven't an accout for it.

So up to now:

Testers:---------------------------------------------------Operation System Version

List Edited, Thank you, everybody who help me!

I think i will put everybody who helped me somehow in winver.exe. I've only one problem. I searched everywhere, but can't find how to change it. Does anybody know?

I've bad news.....
I changed the bootfile, and now windows won't start anymore. I've got still all the files, but it might take some time longer (because I have to school on monday, now i've got a autumn holiday).

If the list wasn't *closed*, can I join for SP1 Professional Portuguese, to see if this causes problem in non-English systems?

I have only SP1 Portuguese and SP2 English (both Professional), and I don't want to download SP2 for nothing on dial-up...

I've put you in the list, but it probebly won't work, because all the programs and changes are based on English.

List isn't closed, more testers ==> more bugreports or good feedbacks, better result.

I found this Winmatrix topic with alot of XP-to-Vista resources:

http://www.winmatrix.com/forums/index.p ... opic=13045

HDD size icons, Vista start menu. breadcrumbs and many things around.

Just don't use FastAero because its theme is crappy and tends to throw access violations.

Yeah, i find TrueTransparency best, thought it doesn't offer blur effect. Anyway TT is great if you want Longhorn-styled aero style :P
I've made a few Longhornish skins for it (M6, M7, Placeholder)...

Thank you for the link!

It's not that I want to change windows xp with my project into longhorn or vista, but there are a lot of good things in longhorn, that I would like to see in xp. Many people say that they don't like vista, because of not working drivers, it's too slow or too many errors (my oppinion is, when you have a brand new computer and hardware, it's great, don't upgrade older computers to vista). With My FSP it has some features of vista and longhorn, but also other good programs, tools and changes. To make XP better for if you want to wait for Windows 7 (steve ballmer: It's OK to wait for windows 7!!!).

I want to make windows xp better.

(This was just for extra information :P )

Agreed, repeating: in this page you might find what you need, you don't need to put everything on that page.

@zeehonden_3 EDIT:
Here are the things I recommend (including from that page I posted). Listing a thing here doesn't mean you will implement it, it's your choice.

Theme: The one by Windows X
Cursor: XP Vista Pack
Boot screen: You choose (the first post said)
Logon: marxo's Windows Server 2008 lookalike (I really wanted the Aurora background instead of the solid one...)
Icons: Vista Anthracite (no known 7 icon themes yet?)
Glass: TrueTransparency, on the winmatrix topic there's a semi-working patch for Explorer/IE.
Sidebar: The Vista sidebar was ported to XP, just google it.
Sounds: I downloaded them somewhere, PM me
Start menu: Vista Start Menu Simulator (I second to ViStart, but it won't simulate the orb). Don't forget the "Hide Logoff/Shutdown Text" ("LS Patch") from the winmatrix topic.
DreamScene: I don't recommend, as it uses non-Vista-simulation software (VideoLAN). If you want anyways, check the winmatrix topic. However I can write one (using DSPack [Delphi+DirectShow]) if I know the correct hooks.
Live Previews: VisualTaskTips
UxTheme: I packed the SP1/SP2/SP3 uxthemes @ http://richardgatinho.betaarchive.co.uk/uxthemes.rar
Misc: Explorer Breadcrumbs, the Vista Styler from newer Styler versions may be good, Vista Drive Icons (the drive icons with drive space bar)

Whew, what an exciting list!

And what's left: the installer (I have good NSIS skills) and a website (at least a forum, you can request free forum member/project hosting from Andy, I can contribute some of my space...)

Ok, good list,

but:

I've got already the zune theme for xp (made by microsoft). I like that one, because it's not completely vista, but lookslike it a bit.

Cursor, I will only change the hourglass (I think it's in english?) into a round
Logon: Yep, it will be marxo's
Icons: Most will stay the same, only an update for my computer, my documents etc
Sidebar: I've got one of vista RC
Sounds: I think most are good, maybe some changes
Startmenu: I've got ViStart and i think its super good!
Dreamscene: I don't think this is good for XP. It will be extremely slow
Visual Taks Tips is a very good idea!
Glass: I'm not sure if i'm going to do this. I don't think so. Many people say vista is too slow. With this you make XP also slow.

I will also use the vista welcome screen.

Thank you for the list!

What about this as bootscreen? (http://6xgate.deviantart.com/art/Lha-Bootskins-13453233). I will change it a bit, but I think it's quite cool!

Vista is slow because other people use it on Single-Core P4 or just newer computers with only 1GB or 2GB of RAM.

I Run an Quad Core (slowest at 2.4GHz) but with 8GB of RAM.
And there is not an pagefile made.
I am using 20% of the RAM but it is also running various services, apache, mysql, filezilla, ORACLE and many other services.

But this is very fast.
Also I have disabled the Windows Search Index, takes a lot of processor time and RAM also.
Try it, disable it and then it should work faster.

I don't, I am using an P4 HT for Media Center (it's getting hot, 50C with Media Center, in normal mode its 40C, after closing media center the temp drops to 40C again).

And I meant that Vista is slow on an single-core P4 (also other single cores).
