I have updated some builds.
New version will come when longhorn builds are complete (mostly).

I switched with the longhorn builds to VMWare because they run faster in there.

Only 1 problem, with builds 3706 and 3718 i get after the text-based setup says: Setup is starting windows a blue screen (only in vmware, virtual pc works fine) that says, session3 inizialid fails of something like that, stop code: 0x0000006F i have searched it and it says that something has to with smss.exe, i have started the setup from CD and from build 3683.

New version will be uploaded soon.

How about MS DOS?

So, ill post this about ms dos 5 rc10 (complete disc set) now:

first you need to start a earlier DOS, which version doesnt matter, i used ms dos 1.00 and enter the first disk of rc10, you can enter "A:\Setup.exe" and itll install, you need to have 7 empty floppys, after installing you can start it, if youre installing on floppys, on floppy 4 is the GUI (dosshell.exe), boot dos from Disk 1 and enter floppy 4 into your drive, then you can enter "A:\DOSShell.exe" and itll start, if you close the GUI you cannot start it before you insert disk 4 again and restart the dosshell.exe, on the other discs are some more or less useless tools, dont owerwrite those floppys, here are some screens ;)

and thanks for unblestone who gave me these floppies ;)

remember: dos 5 rc 10 floppies are not bootable and (for me even on a fat16 hd) cannot be installed on hd!

Im not Microsoft, i had never the possibility install it on a HD, dont know why :|

oh, also, Neptune 5111 got problems with nvidia graphic cards, without patches (coming later) you have usually no possibility to have more than 640*480*16 ;)

also whistler 2446 has the bios date 26/02/2001 (26 of feb. 01) ;)

You should be able to install on the HDD if there's a primary partition formatted with FAT16.

Thanks to tpemail for letting me use some work out of the MSOSChecklist.

I am now redesigning the Windows Collection Book.
I will upload a new version soon.

I have to transport work from the MSOSChecklist and my book to this new document.
So the next version contains some new pages and Windows XP Betas only.

Please use the old version and new version together until this work is complete again.

The new version file is named:
Microsoft Windows Collection Book (V2).rar
It contains:
1) Microsoft Windows Collection Book (Version 2.1.1).pdf
2) Windows Collection Book Disk 1 (NT 3.51 fix disk).vfd
3) Windows Collection book Disk 2 (Whistler Setup Disk).IMA

Theyre will be a new document called Microsoft Windows Screenshot Collection Book.pdf
But this is a new project and will not be in this downloadable package for at least 2 months.

When you have some screenshots for this please send the rar to:
djrobjansen@gmail.com

I will include a page with on it:
1) Who provided screenshots
2) What screenshot was provided by who

The screenshots must contains (if youre made them)
- Bootscreen
- At least 1 GUI setup screenshot and 1 Text based screenshot (EULA)
- Login screenshot
- Winver.exe
- Properties of Windows (right-click -> properties on my computer)

And please included a .txt file with in it:
Windows (Codename/Final name)
Type (Alpha/Beta/RC/RTM)
Platform (x86/x64)
Build (number like 6.0.4074)
Full build tag (example: 2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.070227-2254)

Can be found (NT versions) in:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion

For users who has downloaded the book and maybe printed it out.
That was on A4 paper

Because of the copying of the MSOSChecklist is had to change the size of the paper to A3 (two pieces of A4)

I have now copyed the Windows XP section to the book and modified it a bit, but i have kept the original notes in the MSOSChecklist and i have another one for my notes.

I have also stayed with the MSOSChecklist colours but i have changed some blackones and pink ones to blue because we have them now.

If i come across some builds in the MSOSChecklist that are NOT on the BAFTP/Member servers then i will change them to black until we have them here on the Member/BAFTP's.

I have uploaded the first Version 2.1.2. When its on the servers (BA-FTP and mrpijey (difficult name to remember)).

New:
Audio Driver for Windows 95 to Vista included.
More whistler builds.

EDIT:
IMPORTANT!:

Versions with an X (on BA FTP) are ENGLISH builds only, i have seen german, japanese, simplified chinese builds but not downloaded them and tested them.

When you have downloaded one of the foreign languases please contact me trough e-mail or PM and tell me wich version, BIOS date (1 day after full build tag: 000505 so to me 06-may-2000) and when asked in setup the key (NO RTM) maybe some installation issues.

Thanks in advance

Where do you want to go today?

All Microsoft operating systems!
Well, if you haven't already added this in, in Chicago Build 122, in the System.ini maxbps line needs a semicolon in front of it, otherwise, Chicago Build 122 won't work.

I know, its in the book, around end of 2000 for 22XX builds to august 2001 for 24X builds.

You can check the dates inside the .iso you have and get the date around the time stated above.

And for most builds (except 22xx) you WILL need a key.

Hi.

A small update: (only here and in the book when i upload a new version):

When using VMWare workstation 6 you have the ability to mount the harddrives and edit them (using Map or Disconnect Virtual drives from the FILE menu).

If you want to edit them DISSELECT read only mode.

And as your windows is configured the SYSTEM files are not shown.

Manual for how to show the hidden system files (all files), for Virtual disks this setting is also required in your HOST windows.

1) Open Extra
2) Folder options, click it.
3) at the VIEW tab, DISSELECT:
Code:
Hide protected operating system files (recommended)

**************
WARNING!!!
**************

This is ONLY recommended when its really neccesary or if you are an System Administrator (at work) because this option will show the NTDETECT.COM and NTLDR, wich if deleted, your computer WILL NOT BOOT!.

You will get a warning, just select YES.

To test it if it worked:
See if in the C:\
There are a few files like this:

Image

I cant say it enough, please DO NOT TOUCH system files.
