Continuing a now even longer standing tradition, here's my cover art for Windows 8 Release Preview! I put together two versions this time, one with the vertical color bar (which I prefer), and one without the color bar, due to the fact that people were shown to be split about which looks better.

With lighter color(like consumer preview) could be fantastic

It replicates the color choices you have for the star screen - they're the same down to the hexadecimal notation. Plus, I think it looks great and adds a bit of color.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I used to add a description/screenshot to my cases, but decided I like the simpler look of these sorts of designs.

What about disk art? As in the print on the actual DVDs, rather than hand writing with felt pen (I got bad handwriting). Might try it myself later.

Take a 12CM diameter circle from the front cover then cut a 2cm diameter from the centre of said circle. I think that's the dimensions of a full size disc anyway.

Looking absolutely amazing, but since this isn't production art, and the PK doesn't need to change, why not have that black box around the PK feathered around the edges or gone entirely?

Thanks guys! It's all put together in Photoshop. As for having the black box feathered, I'm not a huge fan of feathering - looks pretty cheap unless it's done in the right place. I have it there in the first place so it doesn't appear to just be floating.

Try maybe making it look the same as the 32-64 bit line at the bottom and putting it right above then?
I'm not sure, something just looks wrong there.
