Be, the company that used to make computers and was acquired by Palm, Inc. in 2001, made operating systems!

BeOS technically isn't Haiku. Haiku is built off a similar framework (and shares some source code) but isn't BeOS - Unlike BeOS Haiku is Open Source.

Yes.
Also in WebOS used some ideas from BeIA (another product by BeOS, Inc.).

Haiku is binary compatible with BeOS.
Zeta - in fact BeOS 5.1 (based on source BeOS 5.1d0)

Also, Cosmoe - similar OS with binary compatible with BeOS (as Windows and ReactOS). It OS based on AtheOS, which made as analog of AmigaOS.

Well the best you can do is try them out. I uploaded a lot of these to MediaFire or the FTP or both. I forget because I did it a long time ago.

Who still uses this OS?

I had asked around about other "odd" OSs, like OS/2. It apparently still has some use inside terminals and banking stuff, or certain types of cash register OSs.

That reminds me; I still have BeOS Preview 1 from Macworld, what was it? 1996 or something? Anyways, BeOS was ahead of its time. While it seemed like a great idea, and some enthusiasts still use it today, incompatibility with the major OSes ensured its death. Shame, because if more people would have been interested in BeOS, maybe it would have still been in development.
