Let's just say, Microsoft should rename Windows 8 to Windows H8. I do not want to update to Windows 8 once it comes out, but I guess at some time I must. It's just stupid how Microsoft is completely fine with another Vista, and having to deal with the fact that they'll never make another "normal" Windows operating system ever again. Sorry, Microsoft, that 2012 was the year you collapsed.

I don't really hate it, but I don't love it either. I'll stick with 7 until there's a way to kill all the metro crap and bring back the classic shell...

agreed, and Virtual PC 2007 is not compatible on Windows 8 from what I've heard due to compatibility issues (not like Win7's)

Most people (including me) are afraid of changes, and Windows 8 is, well, different. I will get Win 8, or 9 at some point. But i`m happy with 7, so why upgrade?

For once I am really pleased that Microsoft is actually creating and incorporating good looking, modern and ORIGINAL(not a copy of XYZ) designs across it's software line, but I guess most Windows users don't really like change that much. Hate is a strong word, and it should be dislike, as for comparing it to vista, yeah right, Vista had bad rep mainly because of its aggressive memory management, initial bugs and poor driver support, which made it appear unresponsive and unstable, whereas even the Windows 8 Dev Preview used less system resources and ram than W7 and was quite stable. The Release Preview already has compatible drivers from most major manufacturers and the OS is very stable, save for the occasional driver/bug related crash. Windows Vista also took way longer to develop than W8, and the UI change it brought is hardly as revolutionary as the one in Windows 8. So your comparison of W8 to Windows Vista is completely flawed.

i don't hate windows 8 but i don't love it either. I'm not supporting metro for PC *it's fine for tablets and touch screens*. I've been using win8 since the dev preview, and i've gotten used to the metro UI. I don't use metro apps, except of mail. Metro apps are just a pain to use with a mouse.
Launching apps is easier compared to the old start menu, but the search is awful. It's really not that big of a inconvenience as i first thought it was gonna be.
The thing that bugs me is that i don't use metro that much and i don't benefit from using it then WHY DO I HAVE IT ! Really Microsoft is a toggle switch really that hard to code?
All-in-all i will use windows 8 because i like all the other stuff like the task manager, new explorer, better multi monitor support etc

Lol, that doesn't mean anything. Metro is fine for some apps, but not the entire system IMHO...

Kinda' agreed. But see, whatever, Metro is amazing, and it needs a LOT of work presently. It's not yet as good as it should be. Maybe by Windows 9 or perhaps 10, we see a better face of Metro.. There most probably won't be a way to disable it..

I was happy XP yes, and i used XP until 2010, i`m sure i will be using 8 at some point, but i won`t rush out to buy it. It takes time to get used to new things. I`m using Windows Phone 7.5 now, and i think that metro is great for phones, but i still prefer explorer over metro on the desktop

"Removal of features?"
Exactly what are you talking about, other than "boo hoo the start button/menu is gone ;_; "?
Awesome new task manager, cool file copy dialogs, seriously increased performance, better integration with Windows Live services such as Skydrive and XBox Live, an app store alongside the ability to sideload apps (on Windows 8 x86, at least), and in many cases Metro makes it possible to access various settings and such with fewer clicks than a start menu would.
Metro is, however, utter rubbish on a laptop trackpad. It's a lot harder to "throw" your cursor to random corners of the screen when using a trackpad vs a touchscreen, mouse, or trackpoint.
Windows 8? Will buy. Probably. Windows 8 will be a "Transition" OS, in my opinion, that gets people used to Metro just like Vista got them used to Aero. Windows 9 will be the real killer.

If only Windows 8 was as revolutionary as Vista.
As nice as the new UI is, the changes are far less than many make them out to be.

I suspect this is down to your touchpad/drivers.
I have one of those more modern "multitouch" synaptics touchpads, and it makes it very easy - the drivers accelerate in such a way that slow movement gives precise manipulation, where the moving the entire width of the touchpad accounts for maybe 100px at its slowest setting, whereas a quick swipe will send the cursor straight to the edge. I guess older touchpads might be more limited in this respect, or not have optimised drivers.

Sorry, I like Windows 8. Just if it could enable snap under 1366*768 and I will love it.

In DP, you could set RPEnabled to 0 in the registry and it would turn off the new UI and re-enabled start menu... Not sure if it's still available in CP or RP though. You could try using a program called "Metro Controller" to see if you can still disable it. Maybe that's what I'll do, install it and disable metro stuff if it's still possible, since it is a lot faster than 7...
