You have a really vague question here. Also, go to Yahoo! Answers for this.

Edit: Make sure your machine has compatible hardware, Intel or PPC etc.

Slot loading iMac G3? What CPU speed is it? How much memory do you have on hand? What errors is it kicking back?

Odds are that your mac is too old... But it may be something else. Try writing the image to a USB thumb drive to make sure it is not a disc error. If that doesn't work try to Re-Download the image and burn it to a DVD/USB. Also what OS version are you currently running? What year did your particular model come out?

If he means what I understand, he's is talking about the Developer Preview 2 that was way before 10.0 and doesn't even have aqua.
In that case, it will not work on the iMac because it is too new. I once tried on a Wallstreet Powerbook (which is oldworld) and didn't get it to work there.

certain macs are compatible with certain computers, not all os x versions support it. your mac could be both or either too old or too new.

I think the iMac is « too new ». Mac OS X DP2 is very old and the compatible machine are rare.

To test, the best choice is a Power Mac G3 « Blue ».

What the exact model of the iMac ? I think that only the first model (Bondi/G3 233) was on the market when Apple launch the DP2 (1999)

Ok Odds are that your current computer is actually too new. Then again apple could have implemented a feature that would not allow an install after a certain date has passed(Not likely though). :? There are a billion different problems this could be. If you could PM me with your Apple system profiler information I think I may be able to help you further.

Did you install the iMac Firmware Update 4.1.9? As far as I know, it's required to install Mac OS X.

If you didn't:
