This website has been advertised almost everywhere...trust me, the quality of the website is terrible...the files are not checked for safety and most of it is a clone of BA...BetaArchive is one of the best places to get abandonware/betas...

Hm? Well BetaArchive's FTP has a great administrator who spends his time checking and making sure ALL releases are safe...BA also has a great userbase to help contribute...as far as I'm aware, OLD-DOS is just a mirror of BA...

Dont, Old-Dos have over 4000 files, ~70-75% is programs, from BA on Old-Dos ~3-4%

And same about betas. I downloaded Chicago and Neptune from there, and the only thing that was changed is the RAR info translated to Russian and words "BetaArchive" changed to "Old-DOS" (and the style changed a bit, but you get the idea).

It's basically, an alternative to WinWorldPC.

Let's not start the whole debate on who mirrored who again, but it's a fact that BA is organized in a much better way - everything is checked for authencity and security by a trusted and expirienced admin. I downloaded a few files and some turned out to be mislabeled, which is something I wouldn't brag with.

In the end, the site's offering is appropriate to it's organization and appearance; better management = better files.

To be honest, I had difficulties navigating this site and downloading stuff, and I have to agree with DeFacto when he said about better management. Having to use Google Translate all the time only makes it worse (can't read Russian).

Love it when someone says their site is the "best". The site is in Russian, how am I supposed to read that (I haven't yet learned Russian, its on my to-do list under swedish, saami, french, and german).


I doubt it. But in my opinion it would be very rude, and you should at least credit Betaarchive if thats where you got the stuff from. And if you host a mirror at least have some original stuff on it.

EDIT: Sorry, yes, mirrorring the FTP (publicly) is against the rules. So not only is it rude, it is against the Rules.

Forgot to mention that its actually not the best site... Although I honestly don't know any other Russian abandonware sites, so maybe it is the best-but claiming that title yourself is a bit (but at least he admited that he made the site). And if its just basically a mirror of BA

Disagreeing with someone doesn't mean we are angry with him, just that we might not agree with him. Only Russian people can really judge though, us non-Russians can't really understand the site.

Some files are even labeled to be from BA. But it's not a big deal, since they're mostly files that are allover the web anyway. I'd be more concerned if it contained some of our BA-exclusive leaks...

Well, since they ripped of some of our stuff, why shouldn't we do the same? I already checked and packed up some PC stuff that I will be uploading soon.
