Hey guys, I'm Morgen and this is is my first post so um... hope I don't mess this up! Anywho, here goes...

*image removed*
I recently installed Windows Millennium on my IBM NetVista (Don't know what model), and it runs fine, but there is a weird glitch with the CD drive. I got some blank DVD-Rs from Poundland, and tried to burn Windows 2000 SP4 onto it, did it, and clicked on the CD and it said 'Audio CD'. I found that it has the techno.mid file from my SoundMAX card, and every time I insert another blank CD it has the same thing. Weird thing is that it still burned!

Anyone give me a fix? Thanks, appreciate it.

Peace out,
LeaflameSD. Don't get attached.

Move the file somewhere else? Also, you might wanna uncheck the "Hide operating system and system files" option and check the "Show hidden files and folders" option in Folder Options, as it may be hiding in your burn queue

Clear the burning folder, it might be having that file there, I've had similar issues with XP.

Maybe you could use a different image burning utility like ImgBurn.

I remeber this happening to me too before my optical drive went south, and I also happened to have had Windows Millenium installed.

Have you tried reading other data CDs ?

This happens because the burn folder saves files across incomplete burn sessions. You need to drag the file out of the burn folder and it'll stop appearing.

Windows Me doesn't have it's own native CD buring though... I didn't drag anything there, was just trying to burn an ISO image.

So that's what it says in my computer? What app are you using for disc burning?

I had a ME box a few years back and it seemed to work with pretty much any disc burning utility I would throw at it. Roxio, Nero, and even Discjuggler. You can probably try a few out and see what you like best.

I only use Windows's built-in burning capabilities for burning individual and groups of files to a CD. However, I don't use it for burning ISO images. I hae found that the built-in capability sometimes doesn't write the ISO correctly to the disc. In those instances, a CD that was supposed to be bootable wasn't bootable. Upon further inspection, it just wrote the plain files to the CD, and didn't finalize it. So I resorted to ImgBurn.

I don't know that recent versions of those apps would still work with ME, but I suppose you could try. If it doesn't work, you can luckily try to find a working older version over here: http://www.oldapps.com/nero.php.

It's worth a shot to try them out, and as you said you can get previous versions versions from oldapps.com or even filehippo. I am consistently surprised by how well new apps run on old operating systems. Nero in particular has been put under the microscope by a lot of people because it gets bloated in more recent versions. Running an older version (pre 7 I believe) might not only be more compatible but also just perform better.
