So I decided to create a customization for Windows 7 build 6730. This is for those, who like Vista interface with 7 gimmicks. Tell me if you want to use it.
Things done so far:
Make the ISO bootable, easy installation
Remove activation and timebomb
Remove the need for BlueBadge
Replace Vista wallpapers with ones from Windows 8 build 8400
Generally make it for main use
Remove the 2 hour post-timebomb
Remove OEM information
Things yet to do:
Change text in WinPE

Await 2 more small projects from me.

Sounds illegal, but if used only for testing, or if the user has a Windows 7 Business Licence it would in my opinion be ethically correct usage. Cool idea (although personally I like the way 7 looks-never liked Vistas looks).

Well, it's not illegal, it doesn't contain an RTM system. Also, Windows 7 is published by DigitalRiver, and the links are here on BetaArchive.
It would be illegal if I also supplied an RTM product key.

I thought you removed activation and time-bombs, so the need for RTM product key would be effectively bypassed. But theres no need to worry about law anyway when you're doing things small scale. By the way, how hard was it to do that? Was it just slipstreaming a theme in somehow, or more complex? Although I wouldn't know how hard it is to slipstream a theme either.

Favourite OS I don't pick favorites.
Is it illegal if I download windows 7 from a site that has ISOs of it for free if I'm doing it to replace a really scratched DVD? I have my own license.

Thats not what were talking about though. Us uploading, and you downloading from an authorized source is different.

The only people who can legitimately distribute Windows on the internet is Microsoft and its digital download partners (Digital River, etc). This even applies to publicly available, free copies, such as current betas. The only people who can legitimately download from those legitimate sources are those with a legitimate license to the software in question.

Seems nice, can I beta test please ?
Yeah, sure, you may even use it full time. I can give everyone who wants a copy, but I think I'll wait until I can find a way to remove the 2 hour post-timebomb (that is really annoying). I already have ideas and theories on how to do this, but you just need to wait then.

Well, this is great. Keep up the good work, Pwned. I'm waiting for the 2-hour timebomb to be fixed and I'm going to install it. I hope someone does a similar project with a Longhorn build.

The only thing I'm not a fan of is the customized login screen. I'd prefer it to be as stock as possible if it were up to me, to be honest. Looks great besides that though!

I tried to keep it as original as possible. The login screen background is the same as in build 8400. Custom wallpapers (non-Microsoft) weren't used.

Yes.

Hi Pwmed I have 3 quick question for you 1. Are you going to upload this to a pubic place or to the Beta Archive FTP as i would like to use this but do not have access to the BA FTP. 2. Does this have included windows 7 service pack 1? 3. If SP1 is not included would it be possible to install SP1? and have your changes remain intact Digidude

1. Yes. 2. No. 3. I see no reason including SP1 for another build (7600). And Service Packs were rarely released for pre-release builds.
