Hey,

On my laptop, the screen has always adjusted itself depending on what I am displaying (like changing the contrast, gamma etc..) and its annoying, I hate it. PC screens dont do this and my display is fine on my computer, so why my laptop? It must be something inside windows doing this as its fine with Ubuntu. I have tried turning off the Adaptive Brightness service but that doesnt have any effect

The brightness is probably a hardware setting, not having to do with windows OS. what is your laptop model?

My laptop does this same exact thing when I use any drivers for my graphics card besides the official ones under Windows 8 (read: AMD RC10 drivers for Win8). I can vouch that it is very annoying and I haven't found a fix for it either.

EDIT: Does your laptop have an AMD APU?
