You're probably looking at the title going "Okay what? You say your favourite OS is 5111..." I will explain.
For a while I had a computer that I ran just for IRC usage. It ran Windows Neptune. I will go into further detail on why this was a horrible experience.
For the record, I used Neptune for 2 years. My dad's cheap and so he installed Neptune in place of Windows Me on my computer.
Computer Specs: HP Pavilion Something.... 3.02GHz Pentium 4 9800Pro 128mb (Yes. I have about a million of these) Sound Blaster LIVE!
Drivers:
Shut up. I know what your going to say, "You really think you can get drivers to work on a crappy beta build like that?" Well..... I did. And it wasn't fun. I spent about 2 hours before I finally decided to strip my drivers of their "OS Check". Don't ask me how to do it. It sucked.
Applications:
mIRC: Every version after 5.82 would give me an error message and then BSOD WinAmp: Worked fine with a really old version for 1999 AIM: Old version from 2003 worked just fine
For my web browser (yes I did some on there) I used a hacked version of Firefox 3 to run on it. Everything worked fine.
Problems:
CONSTANT CRASHES. I don't know if it was my hacked drivers or something like that. It would crash about every hour. This computer was used for about 2 weeks. It was a struggle to use. Surprisingly, Neptune was actually stable when it did work. I never actually had a problem besides it dumping out or giving me a BSOD.
Would I Recommend?
Depends. I think it'll work just fine if you can devote more time into polishing it. I know my dad ran an IRC server off of it for 3 years non-stop. It must be just fine. I think it was just my experience.

I suspect it was the modified drivers. I can only suspect as I am currently not running this machine anymore. It has Longhorn 4053 now. Ill be writing a review on it sometime soon....

That PC is a little too modern for Neptune IMHO...
I never had any issues at all, and was able to get the video card which required XP or better to work perfect. The only things I ever hated was sometimes it said it was not a valid win32 or whatever app.

Sounds to me like you were trying to run a 64-bit or a corrupted EXE...
Nah it wasn't corrupted. I installed the sims 2 on it, and it said that. But installing it on other OS systems it was fine. Plus it should of worked when The Sims 2 is compatible with Windows 98 and above.
